Inauguration Of Bernardo Arévalo
The inauguration of Bernardo Arévalo as the 52nd president of Guatemala on Monday, 15 January 2024 marked the commencement of the four-year term of Bernardo Arévalo as president and Karin Herrera as Vice President of Guatemala, vice president. The inaugural ceremony took place at Centro Cultural Miguel Ángel Asturias in Guatemala City and became the eighth presidential inauguration held in the Great Room "Efraín Recinos". Lack of approval for a congressional delegation resulted in the ceremony being delayed from the scheduled time on 14 January to the very early morning of 15 January. Bernardo Arévalo
César Bernardo Arévalo de León (; born 7 October 1958) is a Guatemalan diplomat, sociologist, writer, and politician serving as the 52nd and current president of Guatemala since 2024. A member and co-founder of the Movimiento Semilla, Semilla party, he previously served as a deputy in the Congress of the Republic of Guatemala, Congress of Guatemala from 2020 to 2024, as List of diplomatic missions of Guatemala, Ambassador to Spain from 1995 to 1996 and as Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Guatemala), Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1994 to 1995. María Consuelo Porras Argueta (born August 23, 1953) is a Guatemalan attorney who has been serving as the attorney general of Guatemala since 2018. She previously served as Deputy Magistrate of the Constitutional Court from 2016 to 2018. Aldo Iván Dávila Morales (born 20 September 1977) is a Guatemalan politician who served as deputy of the Congress of Guatemala from 2020 to 2024. Dávila won the 2019 general election as a member of the political party Winaq. He is the first openly gay man and first HIV-positive member elected to Congress. The Congress of the Republic () is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of Guatemala. The Guatemalan Congress is made up of 160 deputies who are elected by direct universal suffrage to serve four-year terms.
