Imran Majid
Imran Majid (Urdu: امران مجید) (born 4 October 1972 in London) is an English professional pool player. Early life and career Majid was born in London to parents who emigrated from Lahore, Punjab. Majid, whose nickname is "The Maharaja", was winner of the 2007 Weert Open and the Italian Euro Tour event in 2006. He made his Mosconi Cup debut in the 2006 edition in Rotterdam. He and the other rookie of the tournament, David Alcaide, upset the American top duo Earl Strickland and Johnny Archer 7-2 in their doubles confrontation. Majid practiced much of his early days at Riley's Snooker Club, Hounslow. The WPA World Team Championship is a pool World Championship for national teams sanctioned by the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA). the event founded in 2010 by the WPA and was held every two years until 2014. History The first edition of the World Team Championship was contested in 2010 in Hanover. The British team of Darren Appleton, Daryl Peach, Imran Majid, Karl Boyes and Mark Gray won the tournament in the final against the Philippines. Johnny Archer (born November 12, 1968) is an American professional pool player. He is nicknamed "the Scorpion" (his zodiac sign is Scorpio). He is a two time World Nine-ball Champion & won a record 5 Sands Regency 9-Ball Open titles. In 2009, Johnny Archer was nominated to be inducted into the Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame. Early days Archer grew up with his two brothers and two sisters in Twin City, Georgia, and began playing pool at the age of 12. Earl Strickland
Earl Strickland (born June 8, 1961) is an American professional pool player who is considered one of the best nine-ball players of all time. He has won over 100 championship titles and three world titles. In 2006 he was inducted into the Billiard Congress of America's Hall of Fame. In 1996, Strickland won the largest cash prize to date winning the PCA $1,000,000 Challenge by being the first player to run 10 consecutive racks in a tournament. Career Strickland started playing pool at the age of 8. After intensive practice, he entered his first professional tournament aged 16. Strickland rose to national prominence in 1983 with a victory in Caesars Tahoe Billiard Classic defeating Steve Mizerak in the finals and winning $35,000. David Alcaide
David Alcaide Bermúdez (born 14 December 1978) is a Spanish professional pool player. He is a two-time winner of the World Pool Masters, winning the 2017 event, defeating Jayson Shaw 8–7 in the final, and again in 2019 defeating Alexander Kazakis 9–8. Alcaide is a three-time world championship semi-finalist having reached the stage at the WPA World 10-ball Championship, in 2009 and 2015, and the WPA World Eight-ball Championship in 2011. Alcaide has also represented Europe at the Mosconi Cup in 2006, 2017, 2021 2022, 2023 and 2024 with five wins. At the 2006 event, he was the first Spanish player to compete in the competition.
