Ilkka Järvi-Laturi
Ilkka Untamo Järvi-Laturi (28 November 1961 – 5 March 2023) was a Finnish-born US-based film director whose best known film was ''Spy Games'' (1999) starring Bill Pullman and Irene Jacob. The film was shot in Helsinki, New York (state), New York and Toronto. Järvi-Laturi had a cameo role in the film. Before making the film ''Spy Games'', Järvi-Laturi directed and served as co-director of several films in Finland. He has also acted in the 1985 film ''The Unknown Soldier (1985 film), The Unknown Soldier''. The Jussi Awards are Finland's premier film industry prizes, awarded annually to recognize the achievements of directors, actors, and writers. History The first Jussi Awards ceremony was held on 16 November 1944 at the Restaurant Adlon in Helsinki. The award is one of the oldest films awards in Europe. The original planned name for the prize was ''Aino'', but Jussi won in the end. The name comes from a character in the 1924 and 1936 Pohjalaisia films. The awards were originally organized by the ''Elokuvajournalistit'' organization, but the task was transferred in the early 1960s to the ''Filmiaura'' organization, composed of around 300 members working in the Finnish film industry. ''The Unknown Soldier'' () is a Finnish film from 1985 directed by Rauni Mollberg. It is based on the 1954 best selling Finnish novel of the same name written by Väinö Linna.
