Ilesa
Ilesa () is an ancient town located in the Osun State, southwest Nigeria; it is also the name of a historic kingdom (also known as Ijesha) centred on that village. The state is ruled by a monarch bearing the title of the Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland. The state of Ilesa consisted of Ilesa itself and a number of smaller surrounding cities. The Ijesa, a term also denoting the people of the state of Ilesa, are part of the present Osun State of Nigeria. Osun State
Osun State (; yo, Ìpínlẹ̀ Ọ̀ṣun), occasionally known as the State of Osun by the state government, is a state in southwestern Nigeria; bounded to the east by Ekiti and Ondo states, to the north by Kwara State, to the south by Ogun State and to the west by Oyo State. Named for the River Osun—a vital river which flows through the state—the state was formed from the southeast of Oyo State on 27 August 1991 and has its capital as the city of Osogbo. Ijesha
The Ijesha (written as Ìjẹ̀ṣà in Yoruba orthography) are a sub-ethnicity of the Yorubas of West Africa. Ilesha is the largest town and historic cultural capital of the Ijesha people, and is home to a kingdom of the same name, ruled by an Oba locally styled as the Owa Obokun Adimula. The present ruling family of Ijesha is the Aromolaran family with the current reigning Owa Obokun being Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran. Geography Ijeshaland is located at latitude 8.92°N and Longitude 3.42°E. Isaac Folorunso Adewole
Isaac Folorunso Adewole (born 5 May 1954) is a Nigerian professor of gynaecology and obstetrics. He was minister of health of Nigeria from November 2015 to May 2019 under the Cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari. He is a former vice-chancellor of the University of Ibadan and president of the African Organisation for Research and Training in Cancer. Prior to his appointment as the 11th substantive vice-chancellor of the university, he served as provost at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, the largest and oldest medical school in Nigeria. His research interest is in the area of human papillomavirus, HIV, and gynaecologic oncology, a specialised field of medicine that focuses on cancers of the female reproductive system, including ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, vaginal cancer, cervical cancer, and vulvar cancer. Kayode Eso
Chief Samuel Obakayode "Kayode" Eso, CON, CFR (born 18 September 1925 – 16 November 2012) was a prominent Nigerian jurist. He served as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. Early life Samuel Obakayode Eso was born on 18 September 1925 at Ilesa, a city in what was then the Nigeria Protectorate. Both of his parents, Emmanuel Dada and Rebecca Omotola Eso, belonged to prominent chieftaincy families amongst the Ijeshas. Emmanuel's father, Chief Ifaturoti, held the Eso chieftaincy title, and it was from this title that their family's surname was derived. He attended local schools in Nigeria before going on to Trinity College, Dublin, where he obtained bachelor's and master's degrees in Law with a specialization in Legal science in 1953 and 1956 respectively. Ibokun
Ibokun (''also'' IIemure, Ilu Obokun, Ilu'bokun) is a town in Osun State, Nigeria. It is 416 meters above sea level. Ibokun is the headquarters of Obokun. The postal code of the area is 233. History Ibokun (at that time Ilemure) was named after the warrior that saved the town from attacks of nearby warriors such as Alare- the ruler of Ilare. It was believed that Obokun migrated from Ifẹ as the youngest son of Oduduwa. He volunteered to fetch sea water to cure his father's blindness which translated to Obokun in Yoruba language. That means someone who fetches sea water. On his return he was told his father was dead, and he asked for his portion of his inheritances. Ijebu-jesa is the capital of Oriade Local Government area in Osun State of Nigeria. Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola (born 25 May 1957) is a Nigerian politician who is the current Minister of the Federal Ministry of Interior of Nigeria. Before that, he served as the fourth civilian governor of Osun State. He is a native of Ilesa in Osun State. Akinloye Akinyemi
Akinloye Akinyemi, (1954–2012), also known as Sergeant Carter, was a Nigerian retired Major who was arrested, tried and sentenced in 1987 and 1995 for alleged coup plotting. During his military career, he served in the Nigerian Army Signal Corps. He is the younger brother of Bolaji Akinyemi. Early life and education Akinyemi is a native of Ilesa, Osun State. Samuel Olatunde Fadahunsi (17 March 1920 – 12 August 2014) was a Nigerian civil engineer and former President of COREN, an engineering regulation body in Nigeria. Life and career He was born on 17 March 1920 in Osun State, southwestern Nigeria. He was educated at Saint John School, Iloro, Ilesha, Osun State (1927-1936). He also attended Government College, Ibadan (1937-1942). In 1948, he received a scholarship that earned him a bachelor's degree in Civil engineering at the Battersea Polytechnic in London. Having completed his bachelor's degree in 1952, he joined the service of Cubits, British engineering company, where he worked for two years.
