Iitti (; ) is a municipality of Finland. It is located in the province of Southern Finland and is part of the Päijänne Tavastia region. The municipality has a population of () and covers an area of of which is water. The population density is . Neighbour municipalities are Heinola, Kouvola, Lapinjärvi, Lahti and Orimattila. The municipality is unilingually Finnish. The current administrative center of Iitti is in the village of Kausala. In 1990, the historical center of Iitti, which surrounds the old parish church, was voted the most attractive ''kirkonkylä'' ("church village") in Finland. In the coat of arms of Iitti, the gray wavy fess refers to Kymi River and the key above it to the municipality's central position along the river. Kausala
Kausala is a village and administrative center in Iitti municipality in Päijänne Tavastia, Finland. Kausala has a population of 3,775, which makes it the largest village of the municipality in terms of population. The significance of Kausala for the municipality is largely due to its central location along the highway, Finnish national road 12 (Vt12), and the Lahti–Kouvola railway passing through the village. The nearest lakes are Lake Leininselkä and Lake Urajärvi in the northern part of the village. There are several shops in Kausala, such as S-market and K-Market grocery stores, and Iitin Maatilatori, the municipality's own village store. Kymi Ring
The KymiRing is a motor racing circuit in Kausala of the Iitti municipality, Päijänne Tavastia, Finland, bordering the Kymenlaakso's regional capital Kouvola, and located north-east of the capital Helsinki. It was planned that it would be the first circuit in Finland to hold an FIA Grade 1 license. While the circuit itself was built to meet both Formula 1 and MotoGP specifications, hosting a Formula 1 Grand Prix would require substantial investment in both the track's facilities and in race hosting fees. The track was officially opened on 19 August 2019 with a small MotoGP test. In July 2022, the developer was reported as being in administration. Kymi (river)
The Kymi (, ) is a river in Finland. It begins at Lake Päijänne, flows through the provinces of Päijänne Tavastia, Uusimaa and Kymenlaakso, and discharges into the Gulf of Finland. The river passes the towns of Heinola and Kouvola. The town of Kotka is located on the river delta. The length of the river is , but its drainage basin of extends to almost inside the Tavastia, Central Finland, Savonia and Ostrobothnia. Southern Finland
Southern Finland (, ) was a province of Finland from 1997 to 2009. It bordered the provinces of Western Finland and Eastern Finland. It also bordered the Gulf of Finland and Russia.
