Ihosvany Hernández
Ihosvany Hernández Rivera (born , in Havana) is a Cuban former volleyball player and three-time Olympian who played with the Cuban men's national volleyball team. He competed with the national team at the 1992, 1996, and the 2000 Summer Olympics. He helped the Cuban team win the silver medal at the 1990 FIVB World Championship and the bronze medal at the 1998 FIVB World Championship. Hernández also helped the Cuban national team win gold medals at the 1991 and 1999 Pan American Games, and a bronze medal at the 1995 Pan American Games. 2001 Defection In 2001, Hernández was one of six players on the Cuban men's national volleyball team to leave a hotel they stayed at in Flanders, Belgium for a tournament, and from there rode a train to Italy for political asylum. Volleyball Players At The 1996 Summer Olympics
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. The receiving team must not let the ball be grounded within their court. Ángel Dennis Diaz (born 13 June 1977) is a Cuban-born Italian volleyball player. Biography He played for IVECO Palermo from 1998 to 2000. With Cuba national team, he won a World League in 1998 and an America's Cup in 2001, before abandoning his country to move to establish himself in Italy in the latter year. After a period of inactivity, he returned to play in 2003-2004 for Latina Volley, before moving to Lube Banca Marche Macerata the following year, after a short stint in Qatar. With Lube he won a top national division and an Italian Supercup in 2006, and two CEV Cups (2005–2006).
