Edan Portnoy (born 1978), better known mononymously as Edan, is an American hip hop artist from Rockville, Maryland. Early life Born to middle-class parents who immigrated from Israel, Portnoy grew up in Rockville, Maryland. He is Jewish. In high school, he bought his first turntables and started mixing beats. Inspired by his classmate's rhymes, he started writing his own songs. After graduation, he entered Berklee College of Music, where he spent two and a half years. He dropped out of the college to focus on music full time. Career Edan released his first solo studio album, '' Primitive Plus'', on Lewis Recordings in 2002. It was described by ''The A.V. Idan () is a moshav in southern Israel. Located in the Arabah valley, it falls under the jurisdiction of the Central Arava Regional Council. In it had a population of . History Moshav Idan was founded in 1980 by immigrants from Canada, the United States, and South Africa, who had organized in 1976. It takes its name from the nearby Idan Stream, which was in turn named after the Arab name for the stream, Wadi al-Aidan. In 2005, it had a population of 150. Eden Hills is a south eastern suburb located in the foothills of Adelaide, South Australia. It is part of the local government area of the City of Mitcham. History Whilst the derivation of the name is not conclusive, the Department of Lands Grant Book reveals the first land owner in the area was William Detmar Cook who purchased a property on 29 October 1839. Cook was Master of the barque ''Eden''. There was little settlement of the area until the early 1880s, when the railway from Adelaide to Nairne opened, being the first stage in the plan to link Adelaide to Melbourne. Idan Raichel (, ; b. 12 September 1977) is an Israeli singer-songwriter and musician known for his "Idan Raichel Project" (Hebrew: ), distinctive for its fusion of electronics, traditional Hebrew texts, and diverse musical influences. Prior to the project, Raichel was a keyboardist, collaborating with artists such as Ivri Lider. Biography Idan Raichel was born in Kfar Saba, Israel, to an Ashkenazi Jewish family. He began to play the accordion at the age of nine. He was attracted to gypsy music and tango, and studied jazz piano in high school.
