Iara, also spelled Uiara, Yara or Hiara (, , ) or Mãe das Águas (, "mother of the waters"), is a figure from Brazilian mythology based on Tupi and Guaraní mythology. The Iara may have developed from the lore of the carnivorous fish-man . Conflation with the European myth of the siren, or a beautiful mermaid probably is part of the Iara myth as the seductress of the Amazon River. Some commentators believe the original version of Iara must have been dark-skinned and black-haired, black-eyed, like the indigenous populations. In economics and finance, risk aversion is the tendency of people to prefer outcomes with low uncertainty to those outcomes with high uncertainty, even if the average outcome of the latter is equal to or higher in monetary value than the more certain outcome. Risk aversion explains the inclination to agree to a situation with a lower average payoff that is more predictable rather than another situation with a less predictable payoff that is higher on average. Iara Dias dos Santos (born 11 September 1983) is a Brazilian singer and songwriter. She moved to Finland in 2014 to start a professional career in the music industry. She was selected to take part on ''The Voice of Finland'' in 2017 (6th Season). In her blind audition, she sang Corinne Bailey Rae's song " Put Your Records On" and two coaches turned the chair for her. Anna Puu and Olli Lindholm. She chose to take part on Anna's team. Life and career Iara was born in the University city of Viçosa - Minas Gerais State, and has lived there until she finished her bachelor's degree in Management and International trade.
