Ian Mosley
Ian F. Mosley (born 16 June 1953) is an English drummer. He is best known for his long-time membership of the neo-prog band Marillion, which he joined for their second album, ''Fugazi'', released in 1984. He had previously been an in-demand session drummer. Mosley's abilities have been widely praised, including by former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett, Meshuggah drummer Tomas Haake and critic John Franck of AllMusic. '' Modern Drummer'' has characterised him as a "drumming great". Early life Mosley studied percussion at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama under teacher Gilbert Webster and, aged 18, played in the orchestra for the musical ''Hair''. His first professional band was Darryl Way's Wolf, and played drums on the 1973 albums ''Canis Lupus'' and ''Saturation Point'', and the third album ''Night Music'' from 1974. Guitarist
A guitarist (or a guitar player) is a person who plays the guitar. Steve Rothery
Steven Rothery (born 25 November 1959) is an English musician who is the original guitarist and the longest continuous member of the progressive rock band Marillion. Outside Marillion, Rothery has recorded two albums as part of the duo The Wishing Tree and an instrumental solo album, ''The Ghosts of Pripyat'', released in September 2014. He also founded the British Guitar Academy in 2011. Biography Rothery was born in Brampton Bierlow, near Barnsley then in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England, and from the age of six he lived in Whitby, North Yorkshire. He began to play the guitar at the age of 15. Mark Kelly (keyboardist)
Mark Colbert Kelly (born 1961) is an Irish keyboardist and a member of the neo-prog band Marillion. Biography Kelly was born on 9 April 1961 and was raised in Ireland until he moved to England with his parents in 1969. Kelly was an electronics student while performing part-time in the progressive/ psychedelic band Chemical Alice, who released their EP ''Curiouser and Curiouser'' in 1981. He was invited to join Marillion when they supported Chemical Alice, replacing founding keyboardist Brian Jelliman. His first performance with the band was at the Great Northern at Cambridge on 1 December 1981. He has appeared on every Marillion studio album. Kelly also appeared on John Wesley's album ''Under the Red and White Sky'' in 1994 and on Jump's album ''Myth of Independence'' in 1995 on production and keyboards. ''Under the Red and White Sky'' is the first solo album by singer, songwriter and guitarist John Wesley. It was released in 1994 on Racket Records, a label operated by the British progressive rock band Marillion and used mainly for their own and related releases. Wesley had previously worked as a guitar technician on one of the band's North American tour in the early 1990s and was eventually promoted to their opening act. Marillion's keyboardist Mark Kelly appears on all tracks and also produced the album with sound engineer Jim Morris. Additionally, Marillion guitarist Steve Rothery and drummer Ian Mosley contributed. John Wesley Dearth III is an American guitarist and singer, best known as touring guitarist for Porcupine Tree between 2002 and 2010, and also for performing with Mike Tramp, Fish, Sound of Contact, Edison's Children and Vertical Horizon, as well as for his solo work. Biography His professional career began in the early 1980s in the Tampa Bay area where he founded 1991 Southwestern Music Conference's showcase act Autodrive along with drummer/producer Mark Prator. ''A Secret Wish'' is the debut album by German synthpop band Propaganda. Released by ZTT Records in 1985, it was produced by Stephen Lipson under the supervision of label boss Trevor Horn. Commercial performance and singles The singles "Duel" and " Dr. Mabuse" were both Top 30 UK chart hits. The track " p:Machinery" (a line from which gives the album its title) was also released as a single and was featured in an episode of the '80s TV show ''Miami Vice'' and also on the video "Drum" by Duran Duran's Simon Le Bon for his Whitbread Round the World Race in 1985. Apart from the singles, the album track "The Murder of Love" began receiving airplay in Belgium in July 1985 and Norway in August 1985. Propaganda (band)
Propaganda is a German synth-pop band formed in Düsseldorf in 1982. They signed a recording contract with the UK label ZTT Records in 1983 and released their first single " Dr. Mabuse" in 1984. Their debut studio album, the critically acclaimed '' A Secret Wish'', was released in mid-1985, and contained both "Dr. Mabuse" and the hit single "Duel" (both singles were UK Top 30 hits). A second studio album, '' 1234'', was recorded with a markedly different line-up and released in 1990 by Virgin Records to less success. Fish (singer)
Derek William Dick (born 25 April 1958), better known by his stage name Fish, is a retired Scottish singer, songwriter and occasional actor. He was the lead singer and lyricist of the neo-prog band Marillion from 1981 until 1988. He released 11 UK Top 40 singles with the band, including the Top 10 singles "Kayleigh", "Lavender (Marillion song), Lavender" and "Incommunicado (song), Incommunicado", and five Top 10 albums, including a number one with ''Misplaced Childhood''. Mick Pointer
Michael Pointer (born 22 July 1956) is an English drummer. He is known for his work in the neo-prog bands Marillion and Arena. Career Pointer was the original drummer and a founding member of Marillion. He appeared on the band's debut EP '' Market Square Heroes'' (1982) and debut LP '' Script for a Jester's Tear'' (1983). He was sacked from the band following the album's UK tour and ultimately replaced by Ian Mosley. Lead singer Fish later told ''Classic Rock'' that Pointer had been dismissed because he had "never liked Mick's drumming", "his timing was awful" and "everybody was developing except him". Rockfield Studios is a residential recording studio located in the Wye Valley just outside the village of Rockfield, Monmouthshire, Wales. It was founded in 1963 by brothers Kingsley and Charles Ward. Recording studios Rockfield is a two-studio facility consisting of The Coach House and The Quadrangle. Both studios reside within converted solid-stone farm buildings. Rockfield was one of the world's first recording studios to have living accommodation for clients.
