Husni Al-Barazi
Husni al-Barazi ( ar, حسني البرازي; 1895–1975) was a Syrian Kurdish politician who served as prime minister. Origins and youth Husni al-Barazi was born in the Syrian city of Hama into a prominent landowning family of Kurdish origin. He was educated in Istanbul where he attended classes with the Bedir Khan brothers. Later he received a doctorate degree from the Sorbonne. Political activity During the French Mandate, Al-Barazi joined the Syrian opposition to French rule, but in 1926 he was arrested for his opposition activities and was exiled to Lebanon. Upon returning to Syria in 1928, Al-Barazi ran for parliamentary elections and was elected a Member of the Syrian Parliament. Al-Barazi reportedly played a prominent role in the local hashish market. Muhammad Hosni El Sayed Mubarak, (; 4 May 1928 – 25 February 2020) was an Egyptian politician and military officer who served as the fourth president of Egypt from 1981 to 2011. Before he entered politics, Mubarak was a career officer in the Egyptian Air Force. He served as its commander from 1972 to 1975 and rose to the rank of air chief marshal in 1973. In 1975, he was appointed vice president by President Anwar Sadat and assumed the presidency after his assassination in 1981. Husni al-Za'im ( ar, حسني الزعيم ''Ḥusnī az-Za’īm''; 11 May 1897 – 14 August 1949) was a Syrian military officer and politician of Kurdish origin. Husni al-Za'im, had been an officer in the Ottoman Army. After France instituted its colonial mandate over Syria after the First World War, he became an officer in the French Army. After Syria's independence in 1946 he was made Chief of Staff, and was ordered to lead the Syrian Army into war with the Israeli Army in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. The defeat of the Arab league forces in that war shook Syria and undermined confidence in the country's chaotic parliamentary democracy, allowing him to seize power in 1949. Dawood Hosni (born David Haim Levi, 26 February 1870 – 10 December 1937) was an Egyptian music composer. Biography Dawood's father, Khidr Hossnei, was a jeweler. Dawood's family were Karaite Jews. Dawood was apprenticed to a bookbinder, Sukkar Bookshop, at the age of ten; a customer, Sheikh Mohammed Abdu, encouraged him to study music and singing. His father did not want him to become a musician but he travelled to Mansoura, where he studied under the composer Mohammed Sahabaari. He learned composition and oud, and when he returned to Cairo, sang the compositions of Sheikh Mohammad Abdelrahim (known as El-Masloub). At the age of twenty, he composed in the forms of adwar, taqtuqa, and qasida, imitating the singing style of Mohammed Uthman. In 1932, he was selected to record the works of Mohammed Uthman. Kamal Hosni (1929–2005; Arabic:كمال حسني) was the stage name for Kamall Eldin Mohammed, an Egyptian singer and actor. Growing up he thought that the theater was his calling. He decided to leave the industry after his only film (''Rabee El Hob'') in 1955. Early life Hosni graduated from the Faculty of Commerce and then worked for the National Bank of Egypt.
