Hush Records
Hush Records is a Portland, Oregon based record label founded by Chad Crouch. Background Crouch, frontman of the band Blanket Music, organized Hush Records in 1997, when he self-released a solo record called ''Portland, Or''. The following year, Crouch bought a CD burner and began recording and distributing music by Mike Johnson (Reclinerland), Jeff London, and Ben Barnett (Kind of Like Spitting) to record stores locally. It wasn't until the 1999 releases of Kaitlyn Ni Donovan's '' Songs for Three Days'' and a compilation called ''Flag'' that Hush had a national distributor. 50th release The label continues to release several records a year, recently having reached its 50th release milestone with the appropriately titled 50-track compilation ''Mile''. Graves (band)
Graves is an American horror punk band formed in 2000 by Michale Graves and Dr. Chud after they left the Misfits. Graves recorded and released one album, ''Web of Dharma'', that was produced by Dr. Chud. Recordings The band also recorded a demo before ''Web of Dharma'', which was never officially released. Demos for ''Web Of Dharma'' were recorded in November 2001. These recordings were produced by Ron Gouldie at June 3 Studios in Los Angeles. The recording sessions for ''Web of Dharma'' occurred in April 2002 at Spin Studios in Long Island, New York. Overdubbing sessions and final mixing took place in the "Creepy Attic", Dr. Chud's home studio. A special limited edition of this album was sold at the record release party. The number of copies pressed is still unknown. Seemingly the only difference between the limited edition and the regular edition, is the artwork on the CD itself. Esperanza Spalding
Esperanza Emily Spalding (born October 18, 1984) is an American bassist, singer, songwriter, and composer. Her accolades include five Grammy Awards, a Boston Music Award, and a Soul Train Music Award. A native of Portland, Oregon, Spalding began playing music professionally in her childhood, performing as a violinist in the Chamber Music Society of Oregon at age five. She was later both self-taught and trained on other instruments, including guitar and bass. Her proficiency earned her academic scholarships to Portland State University and the Berklee College of Music, both of which she attended, studying music. The Operacycle
The Operacycle was an American indie rock band from Portland, Oregon. Initially formed as a solo project by multi-instrumentalist Jordan Hudson, the act's sole full-length album, ''Warmer'', was released in 2000. Biography Jordan Hudson and guitarist Zak Riles moved to San Francisco in the late 1990s from their home state of Florida. There, they met bassist Victwa and played one live show together before moving to Portland, Oregon. The 21-year-old Hudson composed the songs that would make up the album ''Warmer'' from his Portland home. The album, for which recording took over two years to complete, contains 13 songs and features 30 different "instruments" ranging from drums and guitars to household appliances to items such as door hinges and a tire iron. Norfolk & Western is an American indie rock and folk/rock band from Portland, Oregon, United States. They are not to be confused with the fallen flag railroad of the same name. An essential part of their stage set-up and sound is a turn-of-the-century Victrola Grammaphone. Norfolk and Western began as the recording project of Adam Selzer with friends, including M.
