Humboldt State Lumberjacks Football
The Humboldt State Lumberjacks football program represented Humboldt State University, known since January 2022 as California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt, in college football and played its home games at the Redwood Bowl in Arcata, California. Humboldt State was a football member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference in NCAA Division II. Through the 2017 season, the Lumberjacks played 89 seasons and had an all-time record of 402–395–21 (). In July 2018, HSU announced that the football program would be discontinued after the 2018 season. History Starting in 1924, the first 27 years of Humboldt State football was less than successful. Redwood Bowl
Redwood Bowl is the main stadium on the campus of Humboldt State University in Arcata, California. It is used for Humboldt State Lumberjacks football games and track and field meets, as well as local high school contests. Construction began in the late 1930s as part of a Work Projects Administration grant. The first game in Redwood Bowl was played on Sunday, October 8, 1946, with the Stanford University JV defeating Humboldt State, 20–0. Two weeks later, when Stanford's varsity played its first game of the season against UCLA, eight of the "JV" starters against the Lumberjacks were varsity starters. Stanford had been secured for the dedication game in Redwood Bowl to ensure a large crowd. Complaints from merchants whose Saturday afternoon trade was being drawn away by football games encouraged administrators to begin a campaign geared toward funding lights for Redwood Bowl. Chico State Wildcats Football
The Chico State Wildcats (also CSU Chico Wildcats and Cal State Chico Wildcats) are the athletic teams that represent California State University, Chico, located in Chico, California, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Wildcats compete as an associate member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association for all 13 varsity sports. 1960 Lenoir–Rhyne Bears Football Team
The 1960 Lenoir Rhyne Bears football team was an American football team that compiled an undefeated 11–0–1 record and won the NAIA national football championship. Season summary The team represented Lenoir Rhyne College (now known as Lenoir–Rhyne University) as a member of the North State Conference (NSC) during the 1960 NAIA football season. In their 19th season under head coach Clarence Stasavich, the team compiled an 11–0–1 record (6–0 against NSC opponents) and won the NSC championship. The Bears were ranked No. 2 in the final Associated Press small college poll and No. 3 in the final UPI small college coaches poll. (The small college polls included both NCAA and NAIA programs.)
