Cal Poly Mustangs Football
The Cal Poly Mustangs are the football team representing California Polytechnic State University located in San Luis Obispo, California. The team plays its home games at Mustang Memorial Field, at the NCAA Division I FCS level in the Big Sky Conference. The current head coach is Paul Wulff, who began his tenure in December 2022. History Football was first played on the Cal Poly campus in 1916. At that time, Cal Poly was a vocational school, as it did not become a four-year college until 1941. 1915 to 1940s: The Beginning The California Polytechnic School played mostly high school teams and college freshmen teams for its first 16 seasons. In 1933, the Mustangs enjoyed their first undefeated season under coach Howie O'Daniels. During the 1933 campaign, the Mustangs did not allow a single point during that season. Paul Wulff
Paul Louis Wulff (born February 25, 1967) is an American football coach and former player. In December 2022, he was appointed head coach at California Polytechnic State University. Wulff previously served as the head coach at Eastern Washington University from 2000 to 2007 and at Washington State University from 2008 to 2011, compiling an overall record of 62–80. As a student-athlete, he played on the offensive line at Washington State during the late 1980s, earning honorable mention All-American honors following his senior season in 1989. Stan Sheriff
Bruce Stanley Sheriff (April 24, 1932 – January 16, 1993) was an American football player, coach, and college athletics administrator. Early life Sheriff graduated from Washington High School in San Francisco. Playing career He played college football at California Polytechnic State University from 1950 to 1953. In 1953, not only did Sheriff earn Little All-America accolades, but also was picked as an honorable mention for the UPI's overall Division I-level All-American Team, for which he received 17 voting points. Sheriff then played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) with the Pittsburgh Steelers, San Francisco 49ers, and Cleveland Browns between 1954 and 1957. UCLA Bruins Football
The UCLA Bruins football program represents the University of California, Los Angeles, in college football as members of the Pac-12 Conference at the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) level. The Bruins play their home games at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Joe Harper (American Football)
Joe Harper (born ) is an American football coach and former player. He is the offensive quality control coach at California Polytechnic State University. Harper served as the head football coach at Cal Poly from 1968 to 1981, at Northern Arizona University from 1982 to 1984, and at California Lutheran University from 1990 to 1995, compiling a career coaching record of 131–95–4. He led the 1980 Cal Poly Mustangs football team to the NCAA Division II Football Championship. Harper rejoined the Cal Poly Mustangs football program in 2011. Robert King Beathard Jr. ( ; born January 24, 1937) is an American former football executive who was a general manager in the National Football League (NFL). John Earl Madden (April 10, 1936 – December 28, 2021) was an American football coach and sports commentator in the National Football League (NFL).
