Hugh Howey
Hugh C. Howey (born 1975) is an American writer, known best for the science fiction series ''Silo'', part of which he published independently through Amazon.com's Kindle Direct Publishing system. Howey was raised in Monroe, North Carolina and before publishing his books, he worked as a book store clerk, yacht captain, roofer, and audio technician. ''Wool'' He began the series in 2011, initially writing ''Wool'' as a stand-alone short story. His first book was initially published with a small press. After that, he decided to publish through Amazon.com's Kindle Direct Publishing system, because of the freedom of self-publishing. After the series grew in popularity, he began to write more entries for it. Howey began soliciting international rights in 2012, including signing a deal for Brazil. Kindle Worlds
Kindle Worlds was a publisher service of the online retailer Amazon, devoted to providing a commercial venue for fan fiction creations of specific licensed media properties. It was established on May 22, 2013, as part of Amazon Publishing. In August 2018, Amazon shut down the Kindle Worlds website. The purpose of this service was to publish fan fiction stories of certain licensed media properties to be sold in the Kindle Store with terms including 35% of net sales for works of 10,000 words or more and 20% for short fiction ranging from 5000 to 10,000 words. Stories hosted on the service were required to abide by some restrictions, including a ban on pornographic or offensive content and copyright violations. The stories must be correctly formatted and were prohibited from using misleading titles. Apple TV is a digital media player and microconsole developed and marketed by Apple Inc. It is a small network appliance hardware that plays received media data such as video and audio to a television set or external display. Nidhi Chanani (born 1980) is an Indian-American freelance illustrator and artist. Her debut graphic novel ''Pashmina'' was released by First Second Books in October 2017. Early life Nidhi Chanani was born in Kolkata, India and moved to Southern California when she was four months old. She received a degree in Literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz. ''The Apocalypse Triptych'' is a series of three anthologies of apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic fiction, edited by John Joseph Adams and Hugh Howey. The first anthology, ''The End is Nigh'', was self-published on March 1, 2014, with the second volume, ''The End is Now'' following on September 1, 2014. The final anthology, ''The End Has Come'', was released on May 1, 2015. Synopsis ''The Apocalypse Triptych'' features stories from various different authors such as Sarah Langan, Scott Sigler, Ken Liu, and Carrie Vaughn, as well as from Hugh Howey. Each volume contains several stories with an apocalyptic theme, and each volume is set during a specific stage of an apocalypse. It is a geometry-stabilized craft, deriving its stability from its wide beam, rather than from a ballasted keel as with a monohull boat. A sailing yacht (US ship prefixes SY or S/Y), is a leisure craft that uses sails as its primary means of propulsion. A yacht may be a sail or power vessel used for pleasure, cruising, or racing.
