John Michael Clancy
John Michael Clancy (May 7, 1837 – July 25, 1903) was an American businessman and politician who served three terms as a United States representative from New York from 1889 to 1895. Biography Born in County Laois, Ireland, he immigrated with his parents to the United States and settled in New York City. He attended the public schools of Brooklyn, engaged in the real-estate business, served as an alderman of the city of Brooklyn from 1868 to 1875, and was a member of the New York State Assembly in 1878, 1879 (both Kings Co., 1st D.), 1880 and 1881 (both Kings Co., 4th D.). Ardolph Loges Kline (February 21, 1858 – October 13, 1930), was a senior officer of the New York National Guard and a Republican politician who became acting Mayor of New York City on September 10, 1913, upon the death of Mayor William Jay Gaynor, serving for the rest of the year. He was later a United States representative from Brooklyn (1921–1923). Gilbert Ray Hodges (''né'' Hodge; April 4, 1924 – April 2, 1972) was an American first baseman and manager in Major League Baseball (MLB) who played most of his 18-year career for the Brooklyn / Los Angeles Dodgers. He was widely regarded as the major leagues' outstanding first baseman in the 1950s, with teammate Duke Snider being the only player to have more home runs or runs batted in during the decade. William Russell Grace
William Russell Grace (May 10, 1832 – March 21, 1904) was an Irish-American politician, the first Roman Catholic mayor of New York City, and the founder of W. R. Grace and Company. Early life Grace was born in Ireland in Riverstown near the Cove of Cork to James Grace and Eleanor May Russell (née Ellen) while the family was away from home, and raised on Grace property at Ballylinan in Queens (now Laois) County near the town of Athy. He was a member of a prominent and well-to-do family who lived for a period at Brooklawn House on Love Lane (now Donore Avenue).
