Eidsfjorden (Nordland)
Eidsfjorden is a fjord in Nordland county, Norway. The long fjord cuts into the island of Langøya in the Vesterålen archipelago and it is located in the municipalities of Bø, Hadsel, and Sortland. It branches off of the main Vesterålsfjorden which is part of Norwegian Sea. The innermost part of the fjord is part of Sortland Municipality. The outer part of the fjord is split with the western coast belonging to Bø Municipality and the eastern coast belonging to Hadsel Municipality. Several small fjords branch north from the fjord: Jørnfjord, Hellfjord, Melfjord, Olderfjord, and Bjørndalsfjord. There are two churches located along the fjord: Indre Eidsfjord Church and Ytre Eidsfjord Church (meaning "inner" and "outer" Eidsfjord churches). Indre Eidsfjord Church
Indre Eidsfjord Church ( no, Indre Eidsfjord kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Sortland Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The church is located in the village of Holmstad on the island of Langøya. The church is one of the three churches for the Sortland parish which is part of the Vesterålen prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1970 using plans drawn up by the architect Rolf Harlew Jenssen. The church seats about 280 people. It was consecrated on 14 June 1970. is a town and the administrative centre of Sortland Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The town is located on the east coast of the island of Langøya, along the Sortlandsundet strait. In 1997, the municipality decided to declare " town status" for the urban area of Sortland. Sortland is the largest town and commercial centre in the whole Vesterålen region and is often referred to as "the blue town by the strait" () since many of the buildings are painted blue. The town has a population (2018) of 5,404 which gives the town a population density of . The Norwegian National Road 85 highway begins at Sortland and crosses the Sortland Bridge to connect the town to the nearby European route E10 highway on the neighboring island of Hinnøya. Langøya is the third largest island of Norway (outside of Svalbard), with an area of . The island is a part of the Vesterålen archipelago in Nordland county, Norway. The island includes the municipalities of Bø and Øksnes as well as parts of the municipalities of Sortland and Hadsel.
