Hoima–Kaiso–Tonya Road
Hoima–Kaiso–Tonya Road is a road in the Western Region of Uganda, connecting the city of Hoima with the towns of Kaiso and Tonya on the shores of Lake Albert in the oil-rich Albertine Graben. Location The road starts at Hoima and continues west through Kaiso, and ends in Tonya, a distance of approximately . The road passes through the village of Kabaale, in Buseruka County, the location of the Uganda Oil Refinery. The coordinates of the road near Tonya are 1°35'06.0"N; 31°04'59.0"E (Latitude:1.585000; Longitude:31.083056). Upgrading to tarmac The upgrading of the road involved the conversion of the existing gravel surface to tarmac and the building of bridges and drainages. Kolin Insaat Turim Sayani Ve Tecaret, a Turkish construction firm, won the tender to build the road at an estimated cost of USh:320 billion (US$125 million). Hoima
Hoima is a city in the Western Region of Uganda. It is the main municipal, administrative, and commercial center of Hoima District. It is also the location of the palace of the Omukama of Bunyoro. Location Hoima is approximately , by road, northwest of Kampala, Uganda's largest city, on an all-weather tarmac highway, the Kampala–Hoima Road. Daily Monitor
The ''Daily Monitor'' is a Ugandan independent daily newspaper. Its name is shared by the ''Saturday Monitor'' and ''Sunday Monitor'', which are also published by Monitor Publications Limited. ''Daily Monitor'' averaged a daily circulation of 24,230 newspapers in September 2011. By the fourth quarter of 2019, that figure had dropped to 16,169 copies daily. Uganda–Kenya Crude Oil Pipeline
The Uganda–Kenya Crude Oil Pipeline (UKCOP) was a proposed pipeline to transport crude oil from Uganda's oil fields in the Northern and Western Regions to the Kenyan port of Lamu on the Indian Ocean. Along the way, the pipeline would have picked up more crude oil from the South Lokichar Basin and other oil fields in northwestern Kenya and delivered it to Lamu for export. South Sudan had also planned to construct a pipeline from its Unity State, linking to the UKCOP as an alternative to its only current oil export route through Port Sudan in its northern neighbor Sudan. Uganda is a presidential republic in which the President of Uganda is the head of state and the prime minister is the head of government business. There is a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is given to both the government and the National Assembly.
