Hiwasse was an unincorporated census-designated place in Benton County, Arkansas, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 497. It is the location of (or is the nearest community to) Hiwasse Bank Building, which is located at Main St., AR 279 and Banks House, which is located on AR 72 west of Hiwasse. Both are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Hiwasse faced a great division in 2007–2008, when two groups faced off over the incorporation of Hiwasse. In the end, the voters decided not to incorporate, with adjacent Gravette annexing the community in 2012. Gravette High School
Gravette High School is a comprehensive public high school located in the fringe town of Gravette, Arkansas, United States. The school provides secondary education for students in grades 8 through 12. It is one of nine public high schools in Benton County, Arkansas and the sole high school administered by the Gravette School District. The district, and therefore Gravette High's attendance boundary, includes the majority of Gravette, as well as all of Maysville and Sulphur Springs, and a section of Bella Vista. Academics Gravette High School is accredited by the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) and has been accredited by AdvancED since 1983. Highway 72 (AR 72, Ark. 72, and Hwy. 72) is a designation for two east–west state highways in Benton County, Arkansas. A western route of runs east from Highway 43 at Maysville to U.S. Route 71B (US 71B) in Bentonville. Banks House (Hiwasse, Arkansas)
The Banks House is a historic house on Arkansas Highway 72 west of Hiwasse, Arkansas. Built in 1900, it is a -story wood frame rendition of a double pen form more often found in log construction. It has weatherboard siding, a side gable main roof, and a wide single story front porch with round columns and a hip roof. A chimney rises at the eastern end, and an ell extends the house to the rear. It is a well-preserved local example of vernacular frontier architecture. Arkansas Highway 279 (AR 279 and Hwy. 279) is a north–south state highway in Benton County, Arkansas. The route runs from Arkansas Highway 12 at Vaughn north to the Missouri state line through Centerton. The route has a rare officially designated exception of , overlapping Arkansas Highway 72. Hiwasse Bank Building
The Hiwasse Bank Building is a historic commercial building in the rural community of Hiwasse, Arkansas. It is located on Arkansas Highway 279, a short way south of its junction with Arkansas Highway 72, abutting a similar but slightly newer commercial building. The building is a single-story brick building, with its front facade divided into three sections by iron stanchions. The left two bays have wood-frame windows in them, that on the right, the entrance flanked by sidelight windows and topped by a transom. Above these is a brick panel defined by a frame of corbelled brick. The interior has retained elements of its original pressed metal ceiling. Built c. 1890, it represents (despite deteriorating condition) the best of commercial architecture of that period in the small community.
