Ethlyne Clair
Ethlyne Clair (born Ethlyne Williamson, November 23, 1904 – February 27, 1996) was an American actress. Clair was born in Talladega, Alabama. A former New York art student, she appeared mostly in silent film, including three Westerns where she played the love interest to Hoot Gibson. She was succeeded by Derelys Perdue in the ''Newlyweds'' film series, in which she appeared in 1927 and 1928. She appeared in the serials ''The Vanishing Rider'' (1928) and ''Queen of the Northwoods'' (1929). She was a WAMPAS Baby Star in 1929. Clair was married to Richard Lansdale Hanshaw, an agent and producer; Ern Westmore, a studio makeup artist; and Merle Arthur Frost Jr, an automobile dealer. On February 27, 1996, Clair died of respiratory failure after ulcer surgery in Tarzana Hospital in Los Angeles at age 91. Walter B. McGrail (October 19, 1888 – March 19, 1970) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 150 films between 1916 and 1951. Besides feature films, he appeared in ''The Scarlet Runner'', a 12-chapter serial. McGrail was born in Brooklyn, New York, and died in San Francisco, California, at the age of 81. Bert Moorhouse
Bert Moorhouse (sometimes incorrectly billed as Bert Moorehouse) (November 20, 1894 – January 26, 1954) was an American character actor whose career began at the very tail end of the silent era, and lasted through the mid-1950s. Biography Born Herbert Green Moorhouse in Chicago, Illinois in 1894, he would enter the film industry in 1928 with featured roles in two FBO productions: ''Rough Ridin' Red'', and the Hugh Trevor vehicle '' Hey Rube!'' He would appear in either featured or small roles in over 130 films during his 26-year career, as well as more than 200 other pictures in which he appeared as an extra. In 1954 he had small roles in three films, the last of which to be premiered was ''Dangerous Mission'', which starred Victor Mature, Piper Laurie, William Bendix, and Vincent Price. Gertrude Olmstead (November 13, 1897 – January 18, 1975) was an American actress of the silent era. She appeared in 56 films between 1920 and 1929. Her last name was sometimes seen as Olmsted. Career Olmstead was born in Chicago, Illinois, and was noticed after winning a 5,900-entrant contest to represent "The Spirit of America" at the 1920 Elks Club national convention. The victory included an opportunity to receive a $10,000 one-year contract to appear in films. Olmstead initially was signed by Universal Motion Picture company. Her first film was '' Tipped Off'' (1920), following which she became the leading lady in western films that starred Hoot Gibson. She appeared in her first credited film role in the 1921 film '' The Fox''. She obtained several more roles that same year, appearing in nine films in 1921, and another five in 1922. Tommy Atkins (director)
Tommy Atkins (July 18, 1887 –June 18, 1968) was an American director of the silent and early sound film eras. Born on July 18, 1887, in Springfield, Massachusetts, he made his entrance into the film industry as the assistant director to Ralph Ince on the 1920 silent film ''Out of the Snows''. Eight years later, he made another film, again as assistant director, for FBO Pictures on another silent film, ''Crooks Can't Win''. He worked as the assistant director on another sixteen films between 1928 and 1934, the most notable of which was 1933's ''Morning Glory'', directed by Lowell Sherman and starring Katharine Hepburn and Douglas Fairbanks Jr. In 1934 he directed his first picture, '' The Silver Streak'', which was one of the top money-makers for RKO Pictures that year. He directed two more films, the second of which, ''Hi, Gaucho!'', he also wrote the story for.
