Hermagor-Pressegger See
Hermagor-Pressegger See ( sl, Šmohor-Preseško jezero) is a town in the Austrian state of Carinthia. It is the administrative centre of the Hermagor District.The town is named after Saint Hermagoras of Aquileia, the first bishop of Aquileia. Geography Location Hermagor is located in the lower Gail valley at the northern foot of the Carnic Alps, close to the border with Italy. In the south, the Naßfeld Pass connects it with the Italian municipality of Pontebba. In the north, the road leads via Gitschtal into the Gailtal Alps, across Kreuzberg Saddle to the Weissensee lake and further down to Greifenburg in the Drava valley. Hermagor station is a stop on the Gailtal Railway line from Arnoldstein to Kötschach-Mauthen. The municipal area comprises shallow Pressegger See, one of the warmest lakes in Austria with extensive reed banks. Naßfeld Pass
Nassfeld Pass ( it, Passo di Pramollo, sl, Mokrine) is a mountain pass connecting Hermagor in the Austrian state of Carinthia with Pontebba in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. It is located in the Carnic Alps between the Gail valley in the north and the Italian Canal Valley (''Valcanale'') in the south. Surrounding peaks include Mt. Gartnerkofel and Mt Trogkofel. On the Austrian side is the Nassfeld ski resort, the largest in Carinthia. During the Middle Ages, Naßfeld Pass was part of an important trade route between the Duchy of Carinthia and the Republic of Venice. It lost its significance with the extension of mountain roads via neighbouring Tarvis and Predil Pass. Nassfeld
Nassfeld or Naßfeld ( sl, Mokrine, it, Passo di Pramollo) is a town and ski resort in the district Hermagor-Pressegger See, Hermagor of the Austrian state of Carinthia (state), Carinthia. It is located below the Nassfeld Pass. Lake Pressegg is nearby, where it is possible to swim in summer and ice skating, ice skate in the winter. Ski resort Nassfeld is a popular sport destination for winter and summer sports which include skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, mountain hiking and offers more than 1000 km of hiking trails. The area has 30 ski lifts: 5 Gondolas, 5 Six-Seater Chairlifts, 4 four-seater chairlifts and 16 tow lifts. Greifenburg is a market town in the district of Spittal an der Drau in the Austrian state of Carinthia. Weissensee (Carinthia)
The Weissensee (German spelling: ''Weißensee'') is a lake in the Austrian state of Carinthia within the Gailtal Alps mountain range. The highest situated Carinthian bathing lake shares its name with the municipality of Weissensee on the northern and southern shore. Geography The western shore of the glacial lake is located near the Kreuzberg Saddle mountain pass of the Bundesstraße road from Greifenburg to Hermagor. A smaller mountain road runs from the Drava valley via Stockenboi to the eastern end. Despite its elevation of 930 mAA (3051 ft), the lake surface can reach 24 degrees Celsius in the summer months, while in winter the water freezes over completely and allows skaters to move freely on the ice. Due to its steep shore, the eastern part is almost uninhabited, with only a narrow path leading to the eastern end, where the area of the Stockenboi municipality reaches the lake. Kreuzberg Saddle (german: Kreuzbergsattel) is a high mountain pass across the Gailtal Alps in the Austrian state of Carinthia. The high pass is part of the B 87 ''Weißensee Straße'' highway connecting the market town of Greifenburg in the Drava valley with Gitschtal and the district capital Hermagor on the Gail river.
