Her Pilgrim Soul
"Her Pilgrim Soul" is the first segment of the twelfth episode from the first season (1985–86) of the television series ''The Twilight Zone (1985 TV series), The Twilight Zone''. It is about a scientist named Kevin whose holographic projector manifests a newborn and rapidly aging woman named Nola. The title comes from "When You Are Old", a poem by William Butler Yeats, a few lines of which are recited by Kevin just before Nola's farewell. This story was made into a one-act stage musical by Alan Menken and paired with James Tiptree, Jr.'s "The Girl Who Was Plugged In" as a stage production titled ''Weird Romance: Two One Act Musicals of Speculative Fiction''. The Twilight Zone (1985 TV Series)
''The Twilight Zone'' is an anthology television series which was constructed from September 27, 1985 to April 15, 1989. It is the first of three revivals of Rod Serling's acclaimed 1959–64 television series, and like the original it featured a variety of speculative fiction, commonly containing characters from a seemingly normal world stumbling into paranormal circumstances. Unlike the original, however, most episodes contained multiple self-contained stories instead of just one. The voice-over narrations were still present, but were not a regular feature as they were in the original series; some episodes had only an opening narration, some had only a closing narration, and some had no narration at all. The multi-segment format liberated the series from the usual time constraints of episodic television, allowing stories ranging in length from 8-minutes to 40-minute mini-movies. James Tiptree, Jr
Alice Bradley Sheldon (born Alice Hastings Bradley; August 24, 1915 – May 19, 1987) was an American science fiction and fantasy author better known as James Tiptree, Jr., a pen name she used from 1967 to her death. It was not publicly known until 1977 that James Tiptree, Jr. was a woman. From 1974 to 1985 she also used the pen name Raccoona Sheldon. Tiptree was inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame in 2012. Tiptree's debut story collection, ''Ten Thousand Light-Years from Home'', was published in 1973 and her first novel, '' Up the Walls of the World'', was published in 1978.
