Henry Collins (boxer)
Henry Collins (born 1 September 1977 in Gayndah, Queensland) is a former indigenous light welterweight boxer from Australia, who represented his native country at the 2000 Summer Olympics. Winning the Arthur Tunstall Trophy at the 1999 Australian National Championships is considered to be his best performance during his amateur career, in which he also claimed two Oceania Championships (1999 and 2000) in the 65 kg division. Gayndah, Queensland
Gayndah is a town and locality in the North Burnett Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Gayndah had a population of 1,981 people. It is the administrative centre for the North Burnett Region. Geography Gayndah is on the Burnett River and the Burnett Highway passes through the town. Apart from the town in the western part of the locality, the land is used for cropping and grazing. The Gayndah railway station is located on the north side of the river and is on the Mungar Junction to Monto Branch railway line. Duchess Mountain is immediately to the south-west of the town () and at provides excellent views over the town ( above sea level). Gayndah is north of the state capital, Brisbane, and west of the regional city of Maryborough. Agriculture and grazing have been the dominant industries of the area. Light welterweight, also known as junior welterweight or super lightweight, is a weight class in combat sports. Boxing Professional boxing In professional boxing, light welterweight is contested between the lightweight and welterweight divisions, in which boxers weigh above 61.2kg or 135 pounds and up to 63.5 kg or 140 pounds. The first champion of this weight class was Pinky Mitchell in 1946, though he was only awarded his championship by a vote of the readers of the ''Boxing Blade'' magazine. There was not widespread acceptance of this new weight division in its early years, and the New York State Athletic Commission withdrew recognition of it in 1930. The National Boxing Association continued to recognize it until its champion, Barney Ross relinquished the title in 1935 to concentrate on regaining the welterweight championship.
