Henichesk Raion
Henichesk Raion ( uk, Генічеський район) is one of the 5 administrative raions (districts) of Kherson Oblast in southern Ukraine. Its administrative centre is located in the city of Henichesk. Population: On 18 July 2020, as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, the number of raions of Kherson Oblast was reduced from 18 to five, and the area of Henichesk Raion was significantly expanded. Three abolished raions, Ivanivka, Nyzhni Sirohozy, and Novotroitske Raions, were merged into Henichesk Raion. The Russian occupation of Kherson Oblast is an ongoing military occupation of Ukraine's Kherson Oblast by Russian forces that began on 2March 2022 during the Russian invasion of Ukraine as part of the southern Ukraine campaign. The Russian-installed occupation regime was called the "Kherson military-civilian administration". Its name was changed to "Kherson Oblast" after the Russian annexation. Vitalii Skakun
Vitalii Volodymyrovych Skakun ( ukr, Віталій Володимирович Скакун; 19 August 1996 – 24 February 2022) was a Ukrainian marine combat engineer who was posthumously awarded the Hero of Ukraine, Order of the Gold Star. He sacrificed his life in the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine while blowing up a bridge in Henichesk to slow the advance of Russian troops during the Kherson offensive. Early life Skakun was born on 19 August 1996 in Berezhany in western Ukraine. He attended the No. 3 school in Berezhany, where his mother was a member of the teaching staff. Kirill Sergeyevich Stremousov (, ; 26 December 1976 – 9 November 2022) was a Russian and Ukrainian politician and blogger who served as the deputy head of the Kherson military–civilian administration in Russian-occupied Ukraine from 26 April 2022 until his death on 9 November 2022, just before Russia ordered a retreat from Kherson.
