The Hawaii State Department of Health (DOH) is a state agency of Hawaiʻi, with its headquarters in Honolulu CDP, Honolulu County on the island of Oʻahu. The Hawai'i Department of Health is organized into three administrations: Health Resources, Behavioral Health, and Environmental Health. The role of the Health Resources Administration is to prevent, detect, and manage disease and threatening situations, and assure care to people with special health needs. The Behavioral Health Administration is responsible for improving the lives of those suffering from substance use and mental health illness by providing education, prevention, therapy and treatment services. The environmental health administration ensures that environmental safety regulations are satisfied and manages cases that pose threats to environmental safety. The ''Honolulu Star-Advertiser'' is the largest daily newspaper in Hawaii, formed in 2010 with the merger of ''The Honolulu Advertiser'' and the ''Honolulu Star-Bulletin'' after the acquisition of the former by Black Press, which already owned the latter. History On February 25, 2010, Canadian publisher Black Press Ltd., which owned the ''Honolulu Star-Bulletin'', purchased ''The Honolulu Advertiser'', then owned by Gannett Corporation for $125 million. KHON-TV
KHON-TV (channel 2) is a television station in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States, serving the Hawaiian Islands as an affiliate of Fox and The CW. It is owned by Nexstar Media Group alongside MyNetworkTV affiliate KHII-TV (channel 9). Both stations share studios at the Haiwaiki Tower in downtown Honolulu, while KHON's main transmitter is also located downtown at the Century Center condominium/business complex. History As an NBC affiliate KHON-TV first signed on the air on December 15, 1952, as a primary NBC affiliate, KONA, occupying the channel 11 position. It also had a secondary affiliation with DuMont (which it later shared with KULA-TV, now KITV, after it signed on in 1954) until that network's demise in 1955.
