Harriet Schock
Harriet Schock (born January 24, 1941) is an American singer, songwriter, teacher, author, and actress. She made three albums for a major label in the 1970s, scoring gold and platinum awards for her Grammy-nominated " Ain't No Way to Treat a Lady". She later moved into teaching and soundtrack work. In the 1990s, she resumed her recording career. Biography Early years Harriet Schock – née Schoch – was born in Dallas (Texas) and raised in North Dallas, one of the two children of dermatologist Arthur Schoch and his wife the former Elizabeth Lubbes. The couple also have an older daughter: Sandra. Schock was taught by her father to play the piano by ear at age 4, then formally studied the piano throughout her school years. John Royce Mathis (born September 30, 1935) is an American singer of popular music. Starting his career with singles of standard music, he became highly popular as an album artist, with several dozen of his albums achieving gold or platinum status and 73 making the ''Billboard'' charts. ''Angel Station'' is the ninth album released by Manfred Mann's Earth Band, released in 1979. Several line-up changes were made for this album. Ex-Wings drummer Geoff Britton replaced founding drummer Chris Slade and Steve Waller replaced guitarist Dave Flett. Britton left the band soon after due to illness, and was replaced by John Lingwood. Also in the line-up were Pat King on bass guitar from the then current line-up and Chris Thompson. Background ''Angel Station'' features a six-note descending theme in most of the songs on the album, woven into the context of each song in a different way, an idea hatched by Pat King after having watched Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Manfred Mann's Earth Band are an English rock band formed by South African musician Manfred Mann. Abbe Lane (born Francine Lassman; December 14, 1931) is an American singer and actress. Lane was known in the 1950s and 1960s for her revealing outfits and sultry style of performing. Her first marriage was as the fourth wife of Latin bandleader and musician Xavier Cugat, more than thirty years her senior. Howard Williams Johnson (born November 28, 1956, in Miami, Florida) is a former American soul/ disco singer, and founder of the group Niteflyte. He charted two songs on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart during the 1980s – " So Fine", which spent one week at No. 1 in 1982, and "Let This Dream Be Real," which reached No. 19 in 1983. Career R&B vocalist Howard Johnson started out in Miami, performing in local bars and clubs until the appearance of a life-changing business contact. That was Sandy Torano, a guitarist and producer associated with performers such as the Commodores and Phyllis Hyman. ''I'm the One'' is an album by Roberta Flack released in May 1982 which reached #59 on the album chart in ''Billboard'' whose R&B album chart afforded the album a #16 peak. The Burt Bacharach/Carole Bayer Sager-produced " Making Love", which appeared in the film of the same name and in the spring of 1982 had afforded Flack her final solo Top 40 hit (#13 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100), was included on the ''I'm the One'' album along with eight new tracks co-produced by William Eaton, Ralph MacDonald, William Salter and Flack herself.
