Hardenberg (; nds-nl, Haddenbarreg or '' 'n Arnbarg'') is a city and municipality in the province of Overijssel, Eastern Netherlands. The municipality of Hardenberg has a population of about 60,000, with about 19,000 living in the city. It received city rights in 1362 from Jan van Arkel, Bishop of Utrecht. The famous Pieterpad passes through Hardenberg, a municipality which is located on the German border. Transport Cycling There are many cycling routes throughout Hardenberg. The Great Hardenburg Bicycle Race takes place each August, with the top 3 victors being named the "Wheeler-Kings" of the town and given lifetime passes to the local museum. Road The N34, which runs through Hardenberg, is its major road. HHC Hardenberg
HHC Hardenberg is a football club from Hardenberg, Netherlands. The club is currently playing in the Tweede Divisie. History HHC Hardenberg was founded in 1954, as the result of a merger between ''Hardenberg Voetbal Club'' of Hardenberg en ''SV Heemse'' of neighbouring Heemse. The letters HHC stand for ''Hardenberg Heemse Combinatie'' (Hardenberg Heemse Combination). The club won its first title, in the ''Vierde Klasse'' (Fourth Class), in the 1964–65 season, securing promotion to the ''Derde Klasse'' (Third Class). The club played in that division for 11 seasons, and won the title in 1975–76, clinching promotion to the ''Tweede Klasse'' (Second Class). The introduction of the Hoofdklasse changed the structure of the league. The ''Eerste Klasse'' (First Class) became the Hoofdklasse, and the ''Tweede Klasse'', where HHC were playing, became the ''Eerste Klasse'' (First Class). Heemse (Dutch Low Saxon: ''Hiemse'') is a neighbourhood of Hardenberg and former village in the Dutch province of Overijssel.''ANWB Topografische Atlas Nederland'', Topografische Dienst and ANWB, 2005. Provincial Road N34 (Netherlands)
Provincial road N34 is a Dutch provincial road that links the N36 near Ommen, Overijssel to Rijksweg 28 near De Punt, Drenthe. The entire road is an expressway, of which the part between Coevorden and Emmen-West (the junction with the N391) consists of two lanes in each direction. Route description The N34 starts in the north in De Punt where it cuts off from the A28 in the province Drenthe and ends in the south in Ommen where it continues as the R105 in the province of Overijssel. At the White Pole between Ommen and Hardenberg, the N36 crosses the N34. At the grade-separated Interchange Holsloot, the A37 crosses the N34, also the N33 crosses the N34 with roads that are grade-separated. In Drenthe the N34 is also known as the Hunebed Highway, because of the many hunebeds near the N34. They even have signs suggesting an American Interstate. Pieterpad
The Pieterpad is a long distance walking route in the Netherlands. The trail runs from Pieterburen, in the northern part of Groningen, south through the eastern part of the Netherlands to end just south of Maastricht, on the top of Mount Saint Peter (''St Pietersberg''), at a height of . The Pieterpad is one of the official Long Distance Paths in the Netherlands (Lange Afstand Wandelpad Nummer 9) and by far the most popular of its long distance walking routes. It is possible to walk the route in either direction, and throughout the year. It is well signposted, and is well served by public transport and accommodation throughout its length.
