Quetta District
Quetta ( ps, کوټه, bal, , ur, ) is a district in the north-west of the Balochistan province of Pakistan, on the border with Kandahar province, Afghanistan. It is part of Quetta Division. The district is famous for its agriculture produce, most notably fruit orchards but also including apples and grapes. The Hanna Valley is an area where almonds are grown. The population counted in the 1998 census was , while in 2010 it was estimated at . History The ancient name of Quetta was Shalkot, a term by which it is still known among the people of the country. Hanna Lake
Hanna Lake () is a lake in Urak Valley near Quetta, in Balochistan Province, in southwestern Pakistan. It is surrounded by mountains. Geography Hanna Lake is in the hills close to where the Urak Valley begins, east from Quetta city. The reservoir was constructed in 1894 during the British Colonial era on the land of local tribesmen, and is one of the main attractions in the city. It forms a great historical bridge wall between two mountains, the depths like battlements of a fort, for the storing of water. Features Hanna Lake is one of the most visited and accessible lakes in Balochistan. There is a lakeside restaurant with picnic tables shaded by pine trees at the end of the river, where families can enjoy the food and weather. Urak Valley
Urak Valley is a valley surrounded by mountains in the Quetta District of Balochistan Province, in western Pakistan. Urak Valley is located near Hana Lake, and from Quetta city. A small waterfall at its end marks entrance to the adjacent Wali Tangi Dam. Urak Valley has a population of 10,000, and Almost all Kakar a sub tribe of Pashtuns. Pashtun is one of the largest tribes in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Agriculture in the valley includes growing apple trees of good quality and a few other fruits.
