HaOlim
HaOlim ( he, העולים, lit. ''The Immigrants'') was a short-lived one-man list of political parties in Israel, political faction in Israel. Background The faction was formed when Yigal Yasinov broke away from Shinui on 1 February 2006, towards the end of the 2003 Israeli legislative election, 16th Knesset. This followed Shinui's split into Shinui and the Hetz (political party), Secular Faction. On the same day of its establishment, Yasinov merged the party into Yisrael Beiteinu, which had split from the National Union (Israel), National Union on the same day. Yasinov himself had immigrated from Ukraine in 1993 and had joined Shinui rather than Yisrael Beiteinu after being refused permission to buy a house by Israeli settlement, settlers during the 1990s, an episode which led to a dislike of the National Religious Party. Yigal Yasinov
Yigal Yasinov ( he, יגאל יאסינוב, born 27 April 1966) is a former Israeli politician who served as a member of the Knesset for Shinui, HaOlim the National Union and Yisrael Beiteinu between 2003 and 2006. Biography Born in Kharkiv in the Soviet Union (today in Ukraine), Yasinov immigrated to Israel in 1993. Yasinov joined Shinui prior to the 1999 Israeli legislative election, 1999 elections, and worked as a parliamentary assistant to Victor Brailovsky. Active in the party's Jerusalem branch, he was placed 15th on the Shinui list for the 2003 Israeli legislative election, 2003 elections, and entered the Knesset when the party won 15 seats. During his first term, he was a member of the Science and Technology Committee, the Committee on the Rights of the Child, the Public Petitions Committee, the Committee for Immigration, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs, and the Labour, Welfare and Health Committee.
