Hörby Transmitter
The Hörby transmitter (''Hörbymasten'' in Swedish) is a transmission centre located in Östra Sallerup, near Hörby in the southmost part of Sweden operated by national broadcaster Sveriges Radio. Due to its location in the middle of the province, it provides FM radio and television to most of Scania. It is 320 metres high and when opened in October 1959 it was one of the tallest structures in Europe. It transmits the four national channels from Sveriges Radio: SR P1, SR P2, SR P3 and SR P4. Two versions of P4 are provided: SR Malmöhus and SR Kristianstad. The only remaining short wave radio transmissions also originated from outside Hörby, but were broadcast from the Hörby short wave transmitter. The Hörby transmitter is among the last in Sweden to terminate its analogue signals. SR P4
P4 (''pe fyra'') is a national radio channel produced by the Swedish public broadcaster Sveriges Radio. P4 was started in 1987 as a network of regional stations, but national programming was added in 1993 when P3 was relaunched as a specialist youth channel and P4 took over a large part of P3's former programming intended for a more adult audience. Music programme is more or less similar to BBC Radio 2. Programming Targeted at an across-the-board audience, but with the emphasis on middle-aged (40+) listeners, it is the corporation's most popular radio channel, presenting popular music, entertainment, and sport. On weekdays most of the daytime schedule comes from 25 different regional stations, each producing programming (including local news coverage) for their own areas, while in the evenings and at weekends the channel carries national programming. Hörby Municipality () is a Municipalities of Sweden, municipality in the central part of Skåne County in southern Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Hörby. The present municipality consists of ten original entities merged to each other in 1952, 1969 and 1974. A tower is a tall structure, taller than it is wide, often by a significant factor. Curtain Antenna
Curtain arrays are a class of large multielement directional radio transmitting wire antennas, used in the short-wave radio bands. They constitute a type of reflective array antenna, consisting of multiple wire dipole antennas, suspended in a vertical plane, often positioned in front of a "curtain" reflector made of a flat vertical screen of many long parallel wires. These are suspended by support wires strung between pairs of tall steel towers, reaching heights of up to high. Primarily employed for long-distance skywave (or ''skip'') transmission, they emit a beam of radio waves at a shallow angle into the sky just above the horizon, which is then reflected by the ionosphere back to Earth beyond the horizon.
