Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn
Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn is a municipality in Upper Bavaria, situated south of Munich. It is one of the municipalities with the longest names in Germany, the longest being Hellschen-Heringsand-Unterschaar. Geography Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn lies 20 kilometers south-east of Munich. History ''Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn'' is a combination of two villages that were once independent, as can be seen on old maps. (seeBayernAtlas Höhenkirchen and Siegertsbrunn were first mentioned in 1020 and 1048 respectively. Höhenkirchen was known as Marchwartsbrunn until around the 12th century, named after its founders Marchwart and Sigoho. The two names ending in -brunn (which means well in German) have to do with the deep wells, up to 30 metres deep, that were dug to make it possible for people to live there. Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn Station
Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn is a station on the Munich S-Bahn network on the Munich-Giesing–Kreuzstraße railway. It is located in the community of Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn, south-east of Munich. It has two side-platforms with a large distance between the tracks. It is served by line S7 in a twenty-minute rhythm. A third of the outbound trains terminate here, the rest continues further to Aying or Kreuzstraße. Before 2005 the station had one island-platform, which was demolished after the opening of the two side-platforms in 2005. The station is staffed: tickets can be purchased at the DB store. The station facilities are: toilets, a bus stop, bicycle stands and P+R (park and ride). The station is located at the ground level so it is accessible by wheelchair. The Munich S-Bahn () is an Railway electrification system, electric rail transit system in Munich, Germany. "S-Bahn" is the German abbreviation for ''Stadtschnellbahn'' (literally, "urban rapid rail"), and the Munich S-Bahn exhibits characteristics of both rapid transit and commuter rail systems. The Munich S-Bahn network is operated by S-Bahn München, a subsidiary of DB Regio Bayern, which is itself a subsidiary of the German national railway company, Deutsche Bahn. Upper Bavaria (, ; ) is one of the seven administrative regions of Bavaria, Germany. Well
A well is an excavation or structure created on the earth by digging, driving, or drilling to access liquid resources, usually water. The oldest and most common kind of well is a water well, to access groundwater in underground aquifers. The well water is drawn up by a pump, or using containers, such as buckets that are raised mechanically or by hand. Water can also be injected back into the aquifer through the well.
