Håmmålsfjellet (historically spelled ''Hummelfjell'') is a mountain in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located on the border of Tolga Municipality and Os Municipality. Its tallest peak is Gråhøgda, which has an elevation of above mean sea level and a topographical prominence of . It is the 495th-tallest peak in Norway. There is a road to the peak from the village of Os, about to the north. This mountain was the site of the crash of Braathens SAFE Flight 253 on 7 November 1956, resulting in the killing of 41 of the 45 occupants of the aircraft. Innlandet is a Counties of Norway, county in Norway. It was created on 1 January 2020 with the merger of the old counties of Oppland and Hedmark (Jevnaker Municipality and Lunner Municipality were transferred to the neighboring county of Viken (Norwegian county), Viken on the same date). In topography, prominence or relative height (also referred to as autonomous height, and shoulder drop in US English, and drop in British English) measures the height of a mountain or hill's summit relative to the lowest contour line encircling it but containing no higher summit within it. Braathens SAFE Flight 253
Braathens SAFE Flight 253, also known as the Hummelfjell Accident (), occurred on 7 November 1956 at 9:50, when a de Havilland Heron crashed into Hummelfjell mountain in Tolga Municipality, Norway. The Braathens SAFE aircraft was en route from Trondheim Airport, Værnes to Oslo Airport, Fornebu. While passing Røros, the Heron started experiencing a rapid atmospheric icing which soon was too extensive for the ice protection system to handle. Combined with a downdraft, the aircraft lost sufficient lift to stay airborne. The pilots were able to turn the aircraft around, but it nevertheless hit Hummelfjell at an altitude of above mean sea level. The aircraft's captain was killed on impact, and a passenger died shortly afterwards. Ten people survived the crash, which was the first fatal accident of a Braathens SAFE.
