Huskisson Parish, New Brunswick
Huskisson is a civil parish in Kent County, New Brunswick, Canada. For governance purposes the northern part of the parish is within the village of Five Rivers while most belongs to the Kent rural district; both are members of the Kent Regional Service Commission. Prior to the 2023 governance reform, the parish was part of the local service district of the parish of Harcourt. References to an LSD of Huskisson on provincial governance reforms maps are erroneous. Origin of name The parish was named in honour of William Huskisson, President of the Board of Trade at the time of its erection and one of the plenipotentiaries of boundary negotiations with the United States in 1826. Addington Parish was named at the same time for the other British plenipotentiary, Henry Unwin Addington. The Canadian province of New Brunswick is divided by the ''Territorial Division Act'' into 152 parishes, units which had political significance as subdivisions of counties until the Municipalities Act of 1966. Parishes still exist in law and include any municipality, rural community, or regional municipality within their borders. They provided convenient boundaries for electoral districts and organising delivery of government services for some time after 1966 but were gradually supplanted for such purposes by local service districts (LSDs), which better represent communities of interest. Acadieville Parish, New Brunswick
Acadieville is a civil parish in Kent County, New Brunswick, Canada. For governance purposes it is divided between the village of Rogersville and the local service district of the parish of Acadieville (which further includes the special service area of Acadie Siding), both of which are members of the Kent Regional Service Commission (KRSC). Origin of name William F. Ganong considered the name's origin to be obviously from ''Acadie''. History Acadieville was erected in 1876 from Carleton Parish. Acadieville Parish was first settled in 1868 by Acadian settlers who rushed to claim the provincial Crown Lands after it was revealed that the surveyed route for the Intercolonial Railway would pass through the area. In 1869, the Intercolonial Railway's route was modified and it was constructed approximately 10 kilometres to the west. Rogersville (originally Rogerville) is a civil parish in Northumberland County, New Brunswick, Canada. For governance purposes it is divided between the village of Nouvelle-Arcadie and the Greater Miramichi rural district, which are members of the Kent Regional Service Commission and Greater Miramichi RSC respectively. Prior to the 2023 governance reform, the parish was divided between the village of Rogersville and the local service districts of Collette and the parish of Rogersville. Rogersville and Collette became part of Nouvelle-Arcadie while the parish LSD was split between the new village and the rural district. Westmorland County (2016 population: 149,623) is a county in New Brunswick, a province of Canada. It is in the south-eastern part of the province. Northumberland County is located in northeastern New Brunswick, Canada. Geography Northumberland County is covered by thick forests, whose products stimulate the economy.
