John Humphrey House (Simsbury, Connecticut)
The John Humphrey House is a historic house at 115 East Weatogue Street in Simsbury, Connecticut. Built about 1760, it is a well-preserved example of a Georgian colonial residence. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. Description and history The John Humphrey House is located in Simsbury's rural East Weatogue area, on the west side of East Weatogue Road north of its junction with Talcott Mountain Road. It is a two-story frame house, five bays wide, with a centered entry and a large central chimney. Its exterior is finished in wooden clapboards. Additions extend the main block to the right and rear. The interior follows a typical center-chimney plan, with a narrow entrance vestibule that has a winding staircase to the second floor. On either side of the chimney are parlor spaces, with the original kitchen in a long room behind. John Humphrey House (Orland Park, Illinois)
The John Humphrey House is a historic home in Orland Park, Illinois. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. The second permanent house built in Orland Park, it was home to Illinois Senator John Humphrey. History John Humphrey, a native of Wisbech, England, came with his family in 1848 to the area that would become Orland Park, Illinois. He was elected to the Cook County Board of Supervisors in 1866 and elected supervisor of Orland Township four years later. Humphrey purchased a large plot of land in anticipation of the expansion of the Wabash, St. Louis & Pacific Railroad and rallied to have the lands named Orland Park in 1879. Humphrey was first elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 1870 and to the Illinois Senate in 1886. The town of Orland Park was incorporated in 1892 and Humphrey was elected its first mayor, a position he held until his death in 1914. Humphrey-McMeekin House
Humphrey-McMeekin House is considered one of the finest Colonial Revival houses in Louisville, Kentucky. It was designed and built in 1914–1915 as their private residence by newspaper editor Lewis Craig Humphrey (1875–1927) and his wife Eleanor Silliman Belknap Humphrey (1876–1964), both Louisville natives. The mansion was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. The Humphrey-McMeekin House, located at 2240 Douglass Boulevard in the historic Highlands section of Louisville, was co-designed by architects George Gray and Herman Wishmeyer and built by Alfred Struck & Company in accordance with the design and lifestyle criteria of its owners, Lewis Craig Humphrey and Eleanor Silliman Belknap Humphrey. The Humphrey House in Reno, Nevada, located at 467 Ralston St., is a historic house built in 1906. Designed by Reno architect Fred Schadler, it is significant architecturally and for association with Nevada governors Tasker Oddie and Emmet Boyle, who were guests there.
