Hum Log (film)
''Hum Log'' () is a 1951 Indian Hindi social realist film written and directed by Zia Sarhadi. Dealing with the trials and tribulations of a middle-class family, the film stars Nutan, Shyama, Durga Khote, Balraj Sahni and Sajjan in lead roles. Nutan earned positive notice for her portrayal of a tuberculosis patient and so did Sahni who played her brother. The film was a commercial success and established Nutan as a rising star in the film industry. Zia Sarhadi
Zia Sarhadi (; born Fazl-e-Qadir Sethi 1914 in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, North West Frontier Province – 27 January 1997 in Karachi, Sindh) was an Indian and Pakistani screenwriter and Film director, director of films in the Indian Film Industry, whose career spanned what is widely considered the Cinema of India#Golden Age of Indian cinema, Golden Age of Indian Cinema. Career He was the father of TV and radio actor Khayyam Sarhadi and grandfather of actress Zhalay Sarhadi. Manmohan Krishna
Manmohan Krishna (26 February 1922 – 3 November 1990) was an Indian film actor and director, who worked in Hindi films for four decades, mostly as a character actor. He started his career as a professor in Physics and held master's degree in physics. He anchored the radio show ''Cadbury's Phulwari'', a singing contest. Many people don't know that Manmohan Krishna sang his first song, 'Jhat khol de' in Afsar (1950), a Dev Anand film with music by S.D. Burman. He was a favourite with the Chopra brothers and played small or large roles in movies directed and/or produced by them. Meghnad Jagdishchandra Desai, Baron Desai (born 10 July 1940) is an Indian-born naturalised British economist and former Labour politician. Bunny Reuben (1926 – 15 February 2007) was an Indian film historian, journalist, and publicist. He wrote several books, both fiction and non-fiction. Cuckoo Moray, also credited as Cuckoo or Cukoo (1928 – 30 September 1981), was an Anglo-Indian dancer and actress in Indian cinema. Cuckoo was the queen of film dancing in Hindi cinema of the 1940s and 1950s. Though unfamiliar in name, she was known as the "rubber girl" of Hindi cinema and her talent made cabaret dancing a must in the Bollywood films during the 1940s and 1950s. Kanhaiyalal (1910 14 August 1982) was an Indian actor who acted in 122 films in his career, primarily in Hindi films produced in Bollywood, the Mumbai-based film industry. Early life Kanhaiyalal was born in 1910 in Varanasi. His father Pandit Bhairodutt Choube, popularly known as Choubeji, was the proprietor of the Sanatan Dharm Natak Samaj in Varanasi. With his father not in agreement with him taking up any form of stage work, he eventually wore out his father's opposition and did odd jobs in the troupe. At 16, he started writing and then moved on to small roles. When his father died, the brothers tried to run the drama company for some time.
