Hugo Adalberto Velázquez Moreno (born 3 July 1967) is a Paraguayan politician. The vice president of Paraguay is the person with the second highest position in the executive branch of the Paraguayan government, after the president of Paraguay. The position of vice president was created with the Constitution of 1844, although it was the title given to ex officio members temporarily replacing the elected president in case of death or absence, and was not a position elected alongside the president. The Constitution of 1870 established the position with a permanent character, requiring election alongside the president and assigning to it the presidency of the National Congress and the one of the Senate. The position disappeared between 1940 and 1993, as the Constitutions of 1940 and 1967 abolished it. 2023 Paraguayan General Election
General elections were held in Paraguay on 30 April 2023 to elect the president, vice president, National Congress, and departmental governors. The incumbent president Mario Abdo Benítez and vice president Hugo Velázquez Moreno, both of the Colorado Party, were ineligible for re-election. The Yacyretá Dam or Jasyretâ-Apipé Hydroelectric Power Station (from Guaraní ''jasy retã'', "land of the moon") is a dam and hydroelectric power plant built over the waterfalls of Jasyretâ-Apipé in the Paraná River, between the Paraguayan City of Ayolas and the Argentine Province of Corrientes. Mario Abdo Benítez (; born 10 November 1971) is a Paraguayan politician who has served as the president of Paraguay since 2018. He was previously a senator and President of the Senate. Early life and education Abdo Benítez was born in Asunción on 10 November 1971 and is the son of Ruth Benítez Perrier and Mario Abdo Benítez Sr. His father's ancestry is Lebanese.
