Hubbard Hall (Elizabethtown, New York)
Hubbard Hall, also known as Kellogg House and Elizabethtown Community House, was a historic home located at Elizabethtown in Essex County, New York. It was a -story wood-frame building in the Queen Anne style. Hubbard Hall was originally built about 1840 as a typical five-by-two-bay Federal / Greek Revival–style structure and extensively remodeled in 1895. It featured multiple gables and dormers and interesting roof lines. A porch extended across three quarters of the front facade. In 1925 it was converted from a residence to a community hospital. A 2-story wing was added in 1946. Elizabethtown is a town in Essex County, New York, United States. The population was 1,163 at the 2010 census. The county seat of Essex County is the hamlet of Elizabethtown, located in the northern part of the town. The name is derived from Elizabeth Gilliland, the wife of an early settler. Elizabethtown is in the east-central part of Essex County. It is southwest of Burlington, Vermont, south of Montreal, Quebec, and north of Albany. The town calls itself the "Pleasant Valley". Queen Anne Style Architecture In The United States
Queen Anne style architecture was one of a number of popular Victorian architectural styles that emerged in the United States during the period from roughly 1880 to 1910. Popular there during this time, it followed the Second Empire and Stick styles and preceded the Richardsonian Romanesque and Shingle styles. Sub-movements of Queen Anne include the Eastlake movement. The style bears almost no relationship to the original Queen Anne style architecture in Britain (a toned-down version of English Baroque that was used mostly for gentry houses) which appeared during the time of Queen Anne, who reigned from 1702 to 1714, nor of Queen Anne Revival (which appeared in the latter 19th century there). Essex County is a county in the U.S. state of New York. As of the 2020 census, the population was 37,381. Its county seat is the hamlet of Elizabethtown. Its name is from the English county of Essex.
