Huang Chieh
Huang Chieh (; 2 November 1902 – 14 January 1995) was a Kuomintang Army General from Hunan and was considered one of the best generals and administrators in Taiwan's Nationalist China leadership. He was commissioned into the Cavalry Branch as a graduate of the first class of Whampoa Military Academy in 1922. As a young Major, he studied at the Prussian Military Academy in Germany between 1929 and 1930, qualifying the main General Staff Course. After mainland China fell under the control of the Chinese Communist Party in 1949, General Huang led 30,000 Republic of China Army soldiers to Vietnam and they were stationed at Phu Quoc Island. Later, the army moved to Taiwan in June 1953. Su Wu
Su Wu (; 140s BC - 60 BC) was a Chinese diplomat and politician of the Western Han dynasty. He is known in Chinese history for making the best of his mission into foreign territory. During his mission he was captured and then detained for nineteen years, enduring major hardship at least in the early years of his captivity. Nevertheless, he endured this treatment while remaining faithful to his mission and his homeland. According to Chinese tradition, in the early stages of his captivity, Su Wu was so deprived of food that he only survived in the cold north lands by eating his coverings, then enduring long years of servitude herding sheep, before managing to return home. He was able to return home after deceiving his captors with a story about his having sent a message back to the Western Han dynasty by means of tying a letter on the leg of a wild goose. Chiang Ching-kuo
Chiang Ching-kuo (, 27 April 1910 – 13 January 1988) was a politician of the Republic of China. The eldest and only biological son of Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek, he held numerous posts in the government of the Republic of China and ended Martial law in Taiwan, martial law in 1987. He served as the third premier of the Republic of China between 1972 and 1978 and was the third president of the Republic of China from 1978 until his death in 1988. Born in Zhejiang, Ching-kuo was sent as a teenager to study in the Soviet Union during the First United Front in 1925, when his father's Kuomintang, Nationalist Party and the Chinese Communist Party were in alliance. Taiwan Province
Taiwan Province ( zh, t=臺灣省 , p=Táiwān Shěng , poj=Tâi-oân-séng; PFS: ''Thòi-vàn-sén'' or ''Thòi-vân-sén'') is a ''de jure'' administrative division of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Chengcing Lake
Chengcing Lake (), also known as the Cheng Ching Lake, Dabei Lake (大貝湖), or Toapi Lake () in Taiwanese, is an artificial lake located in Niaosong, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The lake is not far from downtown Kaohsiung and the major suburban district of Fengshan. The lake is a source of the water supply network and a tourist area of the Kaohsiung region. Park and aquarium A portion of the lake with its shore is administrated as a gated park. A chateau of Chiang Kai-shek, the former president and military leader of Taiwan, is located in the park. Around the lake shore, Chiang also established an underground military headquarters, which has been adapted into a public aquarium, the Cheng Ching Lake Exotic Marine Life Museum. Taiwanese Army On Phú Quốc Island
The Taiwanese Army on Phú Quốc Island, also known as the Futai Army, is a term referring to a group of troops of the Republic of China that retreated from Guangxi Province to French-controlled Vietnam under the lead of Nationalist General Huang Chieh. In the PRC and North Vietnam they are called The remnants of Chiang's Bandit Army invading Vietnam. Later, French colonial forces, citing "protection", put the army under house arrest on Phú Quốc Island, hence the name they are referred to today.
