The Howrah–Anand Vihar Terminal Yuva Express was a Yuva Express series train of Indian Railways, that connected Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal to Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi, the national capital. Eastern Railway cancelled its operations permanently from 19 May 2020. History The train was inaugurated by former railway minister Mamata Banerjee, to help the youths of both towns to ply in between. This train was considered to be the cheapest of all AC trains between the two cities. It started as a weekly service between and Howrah, but the train was shifted to Anand Vihar w.e.f. 13 December 2015. Background Sixty percent seats of the train were reserved for students, low-income groups & people belonging to the age group of 18-45yrs. The Yuva Express is a type of trains in India that was introduced by Minister of Railways Mamata Banerjee in 2009-2010 along with the Duronto Express. The Yuva trains were supposed to be a low-cost air-conditioned alternative for the youth, unemployed, and migrant labor, with Duronto targeting more affluent passengers. Electric Loco Shed, Howrah is a motive power depot performing locomotive maintenance and repair facility for electric locomotives of the Indian Railways, located at Howrah of the Eastern Railway zone in West Bengal, India. It is one of the two electric locomotive sheds of the Eastern Railway, the others being at Asansol Junction railway station, Asansol (ASN). History Steam locomotive sheds used to exist at Howrah until the late 1970s. After Eastern Railway set a deadline to eliminate all steam locomotive operations by 1990, a push was given towards establishing electric locomotion as the primary motive power, and the steam locomotive sheds was decommissioned.
