How Baxter Butted In
''How Baxter Butted In'' is a 1925 American silent comedy film directed by William Beaudine. Plot As described in a film magazine review, Henry Baxter is bashful and fails to get ahead in the world because people do not understand him. That is, all but Beulah Dyer, whom he loves blindly. His hard luck increases when a widowed sister-in-law and her two children descend upon his household. He works days at the office and nights doing clerical work for a druggist until his health fails him. Walter Higgins, his office boss, has stolen Henry's idea of boosting newspaper circulation by giving valor banquets to heroes. When Henry recovers from his illness, he is invited to one and finds that his struggles are appreciated as real heroism. When his home catches fire, and spurred on by the desire to be the other sort of hero, Henry thrusts aside the firemen and rescues the children himself. William Beaudine
William Washington Beaudine (January 15, 1892 – March 18, 1970) was an American film director. He was one of Hollywood's most prolific directors, turning out a remarkable 179 feature-length films in a wide variety of genres. He is best known today for his silent films ''Little Annie Rooney (1925 film), Little Annie Rooney'' and ''Sparrows (1926 film), Sparrows'', both with Mary Pickford; the W. C. Fields comedy ''The Old Fashioned Way (1934 film), The Old Fashioned Way''; several Bela Lugosi and Charlie Chan thrillers; ''Mom and Dad (1945 film), Mom and Dad'', a sex-education exploitation film; and the popular The Bowery Boys, Bowery Boys comedies. Virginia Elizabeth Marshall (October 1, 1918 – January 30, 1982), also known as Little Virginia Marshall, was an American child actress in the silent film era between 1924 and 1930. Biography Virginia Elizabeth Marshall was born on October 1, 1918, in Dallas, Texas, to Virginia G. Wallace of Cuba, Missouri, and Wallace L. Marshall of Tyler, Texas. Lost Film
A lost film is a feature film, feature or short film in which the original negative or copies are not known to exist in any studio archive, private collection, or public archive. Films can be wholly or partially lost for a number of reasons. Early films were not thought to have value beyond their theatrical run, so many were discarded afterward. Nitrate film used in early pictures was highly flammable and susceptible to degradation. The Library of Congress began acquiring copies of American films in 1909, but not all were kept. Due to improvements in film technology and recordkeeping, few films produced in the 1950s or beyond have been lost. Rarely, but occasionally, films classified as lost are found in an uncataloged or miscataloged archive or private collection, becoming "rediscovered films". Otis Harlan
Otis Harlan (December 29, 1865 – January 20, 1940) was an American actor and comedian. He voiced Happy, one of the Seven Dwarfs in the Disney animated film '' Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs''. This made him the earliest born actor to feature in a Disney film and one of the earliest born known American voice actors. Early years Harlan was born in Zanesville, Ohio in 1865. He married Nellie Harvey and had a daughter named Marion. Harlan was the uncle of the silent film era leading man, Kenneth Harlan. Career In 1893, he appeared in Victor Herbert's '' The Magic Knight''. In 1911 he starred in '' Little Boy Blue'' on Broadway. He was playing in vaudeville shows by 1911, appearing in Irving Berlin's ragtime musicals. Harlan also played the role of Cap'n Andy in the first, part-talkie film version of "Show Boat" (1929).
