Hounslow ( ) is a large suburban district of West London, England, west-southwest of Charing Cross. It is the administrative centre of the London Borough of Hounslow, and is identified in the London Plan as one of the 14 metropolitan centres in Greater London. It is bounded by Isleworth to the east, Twickenham to its south, Feltham to its west and Southall to its north. The Hounslow post town covers the TW postcode area, TW3, TW4, TW5 and TW6 postcodes. Most of the post town is in the London Borough of Hounslow, but parts fall within the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and the London Borough of Hillingdon, notably including Heathrow Airport. Isleworth
Isleworth ( ) is a suburban town in the London Borough of Hounslow, West London, England. It lies immediately east of Hounslow and west of the River Thames and its tributary the River Crane, London, River Crane. Isleworth's original area of settlement, alongside the Thames, is known as Old Isleworth. The northwest corner of the town, bordering on Osterley to the north and Lampton to the west, is known as Spring Grove. Hounslow Railway Station
Hounslow railway station, on the Hounslow Loop Line, is in the London Borough of Hounslow, in Greater London, and is in Travelcard Zone 5. The station and all trains serving it are operated by South Western Railway. History The London and South Western Railway opened the calling point on 1 February 1850 on completion of the bridges and embankments at Isleworth station. A temporary station had opened as "Hounslow" 400 metres northeast of the present station on 22 August 1849 to allow a service to run until the loop was connected and the line complete. Feltham () is a town in West London, England, from Charing Cross. Historically part of Middlesex, it became part of the London Borough of Hounslow in 1965. The parliamentary constituency of Feltham and Heston (UK Parliament constituency), Feltham and Heston has been held by Labour Party (UK), Labour Party MPs since 1992. In 2011, the population of the combined census area of Feltham, Bedfont and Hanworth was 63,368. Hounslow Hospital
Hounslow Hospital was a small hospital for geriatric and long-stay patients situated in an industrial area of Hounslow, girdled by two motorways and Heathrow Airport. It was run by the Ealing, Hammersmith and Hounslow Area Health Authority. History The hospital was founded by Dr. L. de B. Christian in 1875 and opened the following year. It moved to a new purpose-built building in Staines Road in 1913 and was extended in the 1920s. A new out-patients department and X-ray department were completed in 1927. It became part of the Emergency Medical Scheme during the Second World War. In January 1977 the health authority announced the closure of the hospital with effect from August 1977. A work-in was organised which kept the hospital open for several months. In October 1977 the health authority forcibly removed the patients, but the occupation continued until November 1978. Twickenham ( ) is a suburban district of London, England, on the River Thames southwest of Charing Cross.
