Horsens Statsfængsel
Horsens Statsfængsel (Horsens State Prison), formerly called Horsens Straffeanstalt (Horsens Correctional Institution), is a former prison in Horsens, Horsens, Denmark. Today it is a crime and Prison Museum, prison museum called Horsens Prison Museum (Fængselsmuseet), a conference and business facility, and a concert venue where bands such as Metallica have played. Following expansions in 2016, it is the largest prison museum in the world. It won the 2015 ''InAVation'' award as best visitors attraction and the 2016 ''Museums + Heritage'' award as best foreign (non-British) museum. The prison was commissioned in 1853 and was closed in 2006 when the last remaining inmates were moved to the State Prison of East Jutland at Enner Mark, west of Horsens. Jens Nielsen (criminal)
Jens Nielsen is the CEO of BioInnovation Institute, Copenhagen, Denmark, and professor of systems biology at Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden. He is also an adjunct professor at the Danish Technical University and the University of Copenhagen. Nielsen is the most cited researcher in the field of metabolic engineering, and he is the most cited researcher in Biology and Biochemistry in Sweden and Denmark (top 5 in Europe). He is the only foreign member of all three academies in the US (Science, Engineering and Medicine) and he is also foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Werner Best
Karl Rudolf Werner Best (10 July 1903 – 23 June 1989) was a German jurist, police chief, SS-''Obergruppenführer'', Nazi Party leader, and theoretician from Darmstadt. He was the first chief of Department 1 of the Gestapo, Nazi Germany's secret police, and initiated a registry of all Jews in Germany. As a deputy of SS-''Obergruppenführer'' Reinhard Heydrich, he organized the SS-''Einsatzgruppen'' paramilitary death squads that carried out mass-murder in Nazi-occupied territories. Best served in the German military occupation administration of France (1940–1942) and then became the civilian administrator of occupied Denmark (1942–1945). Convicted of war crimes in Denmark, he was released from prison in 1951. Following his release, Best campaigned for amnesty for Nazi war criminals and against the abolition of the statute of limitations. Capital punishment in Denmark ( - "death penalty") was abolished in 1933 (except for military law), with no death sentences having been carried out since 1892, but restored from 1945 to 1950 in order to execute Nazi collaborators. Peter Adler Alberti (10 June 1851 – 14 June 1932) was a Danish politician and swindler, known for the Alberti scandal of 1908. Career Alberti was a solicitor, the son of a liberal politician who had been a pioneer of the Danish savings bank system. The family background led to his own career as the leader of '' Den sjællandske Bondestands Sparekasse'' from 1890 but very early he was also involved in speculations and doubtful economic transactions partly due to his ludomania. Later on, it has become clear that he had been guilty of severe embezzlement from a very early stage.
