James Thomas Hooper
James Thomas Hooper (1 September 1897 – 9 February 1971) was a British collector of ethnographic artifacts of the Inuit, Native American, Oceanic and African peoples. Early life Hooper was born in North Wraxall-Wiltshire in 1897 and began collecting in 1912 when his father gave him a native spear. Collecting He became an employee of the Thames Conservancy Board but collecting was his obsession. He scoured flea markets and small antique shops in rural England for items of interest as well as purchasing from auction houses, private museums and house sales. He also organised exchanges with other dealers and collectors such as William Ockelford Oldman and Kenneth Athol Webster. At the height of his collecting in the 1950s, he was one of the top four collectors of pacific ethnographic material in the United Kingdom. James Hooper
James N. Hooper (born 1987) is a British mountain climber and adventurer who in 2006 became one of the youngest Britons to climb Mount Everest, along with his friend Rob Gauntlett. Biography Hooper was born in Portsmouth and raised in Cardiff, Wales by a single father who worked as a civil engineer. He attended Christ's Hospital, a boarding school in West Sussex, on a scholarship, where he befriended his classmate Rob Gauntlett at the age of 11. Hooper and Gauntlett frequently discussed their dream of climbing Mount Everest, which was sparked in 2003 when they were 16. Horace Everett Hooper (December 8, 1859 – June 13, 1922) was the publisher of ''Encyclopædia Britannica'' from 1897 until his death. Early life Born at Worcester, Massachusetts, he left school at the age of 16, and after gaining experience in various book shops, founded the Western Book and Stationery Company at Denver Colorado. Harry Bartholomew Hooper (August 24, 1887 – December 18, 1974) was an American professional baseball right fielder who played in Major League Baseball (MLB). Hooper batted left-handed and threw right-handed. Hooper was born in Bell Station, California, and he graduated from Saint Mary's College of California. He played for major league teams between 1909 and 1925, spending most of that time with the Boston Red Sox and finishing his career with the Chicago White Sox. Hooper was often known for his defensive skills, ranking among the league leaders in defensive categories such as putouts and assists by a right fielder. Gloria Dorothy Hooper, Baroness Hooper, (born 25 May 1939) is a British lawyer and a Conservative life peer in the House of Lords.
