Honkbal Hoofdklasse
The Honkbal Hoofdklasse ( Dutch for ''Major League Baseball'') is the highest level of professional baseball in the Netherlands. It is an eight-team league overseen by the Royal Netherlands Baseball and Softball Federation (KNBSB). Games are played principally on weekends with one game during the week. The season runs from April to September and is followed by the playoffs among the four best teams, which culminates in the Holland Series. Both of the playoff rounds are best-of-five. The league followed a promotion and relegation system with the Honkbal Overgangsklasse until 2022. Many of the official team nicknames have contained the name of the club's sponsor. The top two teams each year participated in the European Cup until that tournament restructured in 2024. Pioniers is a baseball and softball team based in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands. The club is currently sponsored by ''Worldwide Pharma Logistics,'' and the team is officially called Worldwide Pharma Logistics Hoofddorp Pioniers. Under previous sponsorships, the team had been called the Vaessen Pioniers and Konica Minolta Pioniers. The team plays in the Honkbal Hoofdklasse, the top level of professional baseball in the Netherlands. The club's most successful season was 1997, when it reached the Holland Series for the first time by beating reigning champions DOOR Neptunus in the playoffs. Bussum () is a commuter town and former municipality in the Gooi region in the south east of the province of North Holland in the Netherlands near Hilversum. SV Amsterdam Pirates, commonly referred to as Amsterdam Pirates, is a Dutch baseball and softball organization based in Amsterdam that plays in the Honkbal Hoofdklasse. It was founded as an expansion of the football club SV Rap on 17 February 1959 by Loek Loevendie. In the first years, it was known as the RAP Pirates, but after a few years the club changed its name according to American tradition (first city name, then franchise name) and became the Amsterdam Pirates. DSS/Kinheim was a baseball team in Haarlem, the Netherlands that competes in the Honkbal Hoofdklasse. The team is a combination of two Haarlem sports clubs, DSS and Kinheim, which merged in 2020 after DSS had defeated Kinheim in a promotion/relegation playoff. DSS, however, faced financial difficulties staying in the top Dutch baseball league. Kinheim had won Dutch and European titles, but the club abruptly withdrew from the Hoofdklasse in 2016 and could not return to the top league via the promotion playoff. The team played at . DSS/Kinheim also fielded a combined second team that competes in the second-highest Dutch baseball league, the Eerste Klaase. Kinheim is a baseball and softball club based in Haarlem, the Netherlands. Kinheim's top baseball team plays in the Honkbal Hoofdklasse, the top level of professional baseball in the Netherlands.
