Holy War (Kraków)
The Holy War (), also known as the Kraków derby (), is a rivalry in Polish football between Wisła Kraków and KS Cracovia, the two biggest clubs in Kraków and reportedly the oldest in Poland, both founded in 1906. The term ''Holy War'' was coined by the defender from KS Cracovia, Ludwik Gintel. It is also the theme of a song devoted to their never-ending shenanigans, played by ''Andrusy''. Highlights The earliest extant records of the ''Holy War'' originate from the newspaper published on 20 September 1908 informing that the match played at Błonia Park between the two teams resulted in a 1:1 draw. Earlier matches were also reported, but their results are missing from archives of the local media. The first competition in accordance with the 1904 official FIFA standards, took place on 8 May 1913 at the Cracovia stadium in Kraków, with the home team winning over Wisła 2:1. Wisła (; ; ) is a town in Cieszyn County, Silesian Voivodeship, southern Poland, with a population of about 11,132 (2019), near the border with the Czech Republic. Łukasz Sosin (born 7 May 1977) is a Polish former professional footballer who played as a striker. Besides Poland, he has played in Cyprus. He is currently in charge of the Poland national under-18 team. Club career Sosin was born in Kraków, Poland. In the beginning of his career he started out as a sweeper and later became a striker. Andrzej Niedzielan (; born 27 February 1979) is a Polish former professional footballer who played as a striker. Club career Born in Żary, Niedzielan began his career began in 1997, when he joined Promień Żary. Then he played for Zagłębie Lubin, where he did not impress. He made his Ekstraklasa debut in a 0–2 defeat to Ruch Chorzów on 23 September 1998 and on 23 October that year he scored two goals in a 3–1 victory over Stomil Olsztyn. Marek Motyka (born 17 April 1958) is a Polish football manager and former player, most recently in charge of Sparta Kazimierza Wielka. Player career Club Marek Motyka began his career with two hometown clubs: Soła and Koszarawa Żywiec. Later he played for Hutnik Kraków, and in the beginning of 1978 moved to Wisła Kraków. Radosław Jan Cierzniak (; born 24 April 1983) is a Polish former professional association football, footballer who played as a goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper. 1927 Ekstraklasa
The 1927 Liga was the 7th edition of the Polish Football Championship (6th completed season ended with the selection of a winner) and the 1st season of the Liga (now ), the top Polish professional league for association football clubs. The league was operated by the ''Polska Liga Piłki Nożnej'' (PLPN). The champions were Wisła Kraków, who won their 1st Polish title. Competition modus The season started on 3 April 1927 and concluded on 13 November 1927 (spring-autumn league). The season was played as a round-robin tournament. The team at the top of the standings won the league title. A total of 14 teams participated. Each team played a total of 26 matches, half at home and half away, two games against each other team.
