Holy Trinity Church is an Anglican church in Gisborne Road, in the town of Bacchus Marsh, Victoria. The church was established in 1851. History *Pre 1849 - Bacchus Marsh was probably served by itinerant preachers from around 1847. *1849 - first Baptism performed in January by first clergy Rev. William Hall *1851 - prefabricated iron church erected. Bacchus Marsh ( Wathawurrung: ''Pullerbopulloke'') is a town in Victoria, Australia, located approximately north-west of the state capital Melbourne, at a near equidistance to the major cities of Melbourne, Ballarat and Geelong. As of the 2021 census, Bacchus Marsh has a population of 7,808, while its statistical urban area (including the suburbs Darley, Maddingley, and Hopetoun Park, among others) has a population of 24,717. Bacchus Marsh is the largest urban area in the Shire of Moorabool local government area. Traditionally a market garden area producing a large amount of the region's fruits and vegetables, in recent decades it has transformed into the main commuter town on the Melbourne–Ballarat corridor. Captain Moonlite
Andrew George Scott (5 July 1842 – 20 January 1880), also known as Captain Moonlite, though also referred to as Alexander Charles Scott and Captain Moonlight, was an Irish-born New Zealand immigrant to the Colony of Victoria, a bushranger there and in the Colony of New South Wales, and an eventual and current day Australian folk figure. Early life Scott was born in Rathfriland, Ireland, son of Thomas Scott, an Anglicanism, Anglican clergyman and Bessie Jeffares. His father's intention was that he join the priesthood, but Scott instead trained to be an engineer, completing his studies in London. The family moved to New Zealand in 1861, with Scott intending to try his luck in the Otago goldfields. However, the New Zealand Wars intervened and Scott signed up as an officer and fought at the Invasion of the Waikato#Ōrākau, battle of Orakau where he was wounded in both legs.
