Holtville, Alabama
Holtville (also Slapout) is a census-designated place and unincorporated community in Elmore County, Alabama, United States. Its population was 4,940 as of the 2020 census. Holtville/Slapout is located on the western bank of Jordan Lake, and much of its population lives along this lakeshore, or in the neighboring Lightwood community. According to tradition, the old name of Slapout was derived from a storekeeper's way of stating an item was out of stock: he was "slap out of it". Slapout, Oklahoma
Slapout is an unincorporated hamlet in Beaver County, Oklahoma, United States. The town is west of May and east of Elmwood on U.S. Route 412. History The land upon which part of the town sits was homesteaded by Joseph L. Johnston. It sits on the northwest corner of the land Johnson had acquired with a government claim in 1904, three years before Oklahoma became a state. With the construction of Oklahoma State Highway 3 across Oklahoma during the Great Depression, Tom Lemmons, who had bought the Johnson homestead, moved a chicken coop to where the highway passed his land. In the chicken coop, he started a store. He told the ''Tulsa Tribune'' he had nothing else to do during the depression, so he thought he would start a town. He named his town Nye, after the Progressive U.S. Senator Gerald Nye ( R- ND). Kirby Smart
Kirby Paul Smart (born December 23, 1975) is an American football coach and former player. He is the current head football coach at the University of Georgia, his alma mater. As head coach, he led the Bulldogs to back-to-back national championships in 2021 and 2022. Randall Otis Nix (born June 19, 1952) is a former Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives for the 69th district. This district encompasses parts of Carroll County, Heard County, and Troup County. Biography Randy Nix was born on June 19, 1956. After spending several years as an unsigned musician, she finished in fourth place on the thirteenth season of ''American Idol''. Jordan Lake is a reservoir with a water surface of , shoreline of about , a total length of , and a maximum storage volume of . It is a recreational lake with fishing opportunities for largemouth bass, spotted bass, bluegill and other sunfish, crappie, catfish, striped bass, Striped bass, hybrid and white bass. The lake has two public access sites.
