Geography The Warrego Highway and the Western Railway Line both run along the southern boundary of the locality. The locality is served by Hodgson railway station (). History The town was named after pastoralist and politician Arthur Hodgson. Hodgson Provisional School opened on 1 February 1876. On 1 September 1884, it became Hodgson State School. It closed in 1964. Hodgson Soldier's Memorial Hall was officially opened on Saturday 21 May 1949. Mitchell State School (1914 Building)
Mitchell State School (1914 Building) was a heritage-listed state school building at 105 Cambridge Street, Mitchell, Maranoa Region, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by Department of Public Works (Queensland) and built from 1913 to 1920 by G P Williams. It is also known as the 1914 Building. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 6 June 1994. It was removed from the heritage register in 2017 as it had been demolished as part of an approved development. __NOTOC__ Sir Arthur Hodgson KCMG (29 June 1818 – 24 December 1902) was an Australian squatter and politician. Early life Hodgson was born in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, England; the second son of the Rev. Edward Hodgson and his third wife Charlotte, daughter of Francis William Pemberton of Bombay, India.
