''Hockey Night Live'' is a current events sports talk show about NHL hockey broadcast on MSG Network. Its main host, Al Trautwig, is joined by a panel that includes Steve Valiquette, Ron Duguay, Dave Maloney, Butch Goring, John MacLean, and E.J. Hradek, with contributions from Stan Fischler and John Giannone. Bill Pidto serves as panel moderator and host when Trautwig is on assignment or unavailable. Al Trautwig
Alan Trautwig (February 26, 1956 – February 23, 2025) was an American sports commentator who worked with MSG Network, ABC, NBC, NBC Sports Network, and USA Network. He later did pre-game and post-game shows for the New York Knicks and New York Rangers, as well as fill-in play-by-play for both teams. Early life Trautwig was born on February 26, 1956, in Oceanside, New York, and grew up in nearby Garden City South. He was a stick boy for the New York Islanders of the NHL and a ball boy for the New York Nets of the ABA when they both played at the Nassau Coliseum. He graduated from H. Frank Carey Junior-Senior High School, in Franklin Square. He was a 1978 graduate of Adelphi University, where he majored in business. Butch Goring
Robert Thomas "Butch" Goring (born October 22, 1949) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and coach. He played 16 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Los Angeles Kings, New York Islanders and Boston Bruins. A four-time Stanley Cup winner with the Islanders, he has been cited as a key figure of the Islanders dynasty. Since retiring as a player he has served as head coach of both the Bruins and Islanders. Steve Valiquette
Stephen Valiquette (born August 20, 1977) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. Valiquette played 46 games in the National Hockey League, nearly all for the New York Rangers, before finishing his playing career in Europe. Valiquette is currently employed as a studio analyst for MSG Network covering the Rangers.
