History Of Grasshopper Club Zürich
Grasshopper Club Zürich, commonly referred to as GC, GCZ, or Grasshoppers, is a professional sports club based in Zurich, Switzerland. Founded on September 1, 1886, it is the second oldest active football club in Zurich after FC St. Gallen, based in Gallen. With 27 Swiss Super League and 19 Swiss Cup titles, Grasshoppers remains the most successful club in the country. Grasshoppers host their domestic matches at Letzigrund, Stadion Letzigrund since the 2007/2008 season. 2018–19 Swiss Super League
The 2018–19 Swiss Super League (referred to as the '' Raiffeisen Super League'' for sponsoring reasons) was the 122nd season of top-tier competitive football in Switzerland and the 16th under its current name and format. A total of 10 teams competed in the league: the 9 best teams from the 2017–18 season and the 2017–18 Swiss Challenge League champion Xamax. The season started on the weekend of 21–22 July 2018 and concluded on 25 May 2019 with a break between 17 December 2018 and 2 February 2019. In May 2018, the Swiss Football League voted in favor of reintroducing the relegation play-offs, starting from the 2018–19 season. At the end of the season, the 9th-placed team of the Swiss Super League will face the 2nd-placed team of the Swiss Challenge League in a two-legged play-off to determine which of the two will compete in the Super League the following season. Matt Jackson (footballer)
Matthew Alan Jackson (born 19 October 1971) is an English former professional footballer who is the president of Swiss Super League side Grasshopper Club Zürich. As a player, he was a defender from 1990 until 2007, notably in the Premier League for Everton and Wigan Athletic, as well as in the Football League for Luton Town, Preston North End, Charlton Athletic, Queens Park Rangers, Birmingham City, Norwich City, Watford and Blackpool. The 2023–24 Swiss Super League (referred to as the Credit Suisse Super League for sponsoring reasons) was the 127th season of top-tier competitive football in Switzerland and the 21st under its current name. Bruno Berner
Bruno George Berner (born 21 November 1977) is a Swiss professional football manager and former player. He most recently was head coach of Grasshopper Club Zürich in the Swiss Super League. Throughout his playing career, Berner played predominantly as a left back, but was also deployed in other roles, such as central defence, left wing and also in central midfield towards the end of his career at Leicester City. He spent most of his career playing for Grasshopper Club Zürich, SC Freiburg, FC Basel and Leicester City. Bernt Haas (; born 8 April 1978) is a Swiss former professional footballer who played as a right-back. He is the sporting director of FC Schaffhausen. Club career Haas was born in Vienna, Austria. He played his early youth football with local club FC Freienbach before he moved to the youth department of Grasshoppers Zurich. Aged just 16 years he signed his first professional contract and advanced from the U-21 team to GC first team under head coach Christian Gross during the 1994–95 Nationalliga A season. Oluwaseyi George Olofinjana (born 30 June 1980) is a Nigerian former footballer who played as a midfielder. Olofinjana began his career with local sides Crown and Kwara United before moving to Europe with Norwegian side SK Brann. After two seasons at Brann he moved to English club Wolverhampton Wanderers. He became a regular at Molineux making 213 appearances for the club over four seasons before joining Premier League club Stoke City in August 2008 for a fee of £3 million.
