Hilda Nélida Castañeira
Hilda Nélida Castañeira de Baccaro (19 November 1926 – 4 November 2007) was an Argentine politician. She was elected to the Senate in 1951 as one of the first group of female parliamentarians in Argentina. Biography Castañeira was born in Rosario in 1926.Hilda Nélida Castañeira HCDN She studied at the Nuestra Señora del Huerto college in Rosario and became a primary school teacher in Ibarlucea. She later taught in Rosario and at the National Boys College. Overview The National Senate was established by the Argentine Confederation on July 29, 1854, pursuant to Articles 46 to 54 of the 1853 Constitution. There are 72 members: three for each province and three for the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. The number of senators per province was raised from two to three following the 1994 amendment of the Argentine Constitution as well as the addition of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires' senators.
